Default Went for emissions today...

Passed of course, but does anyone know how accurate the scale that weighs the car is there? On the print out they gave me it says the car weighs 3,733 lbs. (With me in it and 12 gallons of fuel) I weigh 165lbs. and the fuel weighs around 100lbs i think so the car with no fuel or driver comes in at about 3,468lbs. Sounds about right to me. This was the emissions station in Markham off Pulaski.

Question

truck scale reads 3670 with me, gas 1/2 full, and full-size spare and tools and crap...less than I thought it would.? This is at a Gov. scale...I weigh around 180....seems too low...

Have you seen my car? I would love to get it tested, but I don't think that would go well! Plus I currently don't have a motor! I NEED HEADS!!!
I called my insurance company and they have special forms for show car race car exemption. We'll see. Andy

Serious.....Talk to Jim about it all they'll do is check for emmission readiness. They dont even get in your car other than to plug in the adld. The racecar /showcar exemption is an option too but so many people that dont need it are abusing it and eventually the state will eliminate it.I know what your car is capable of and is worthy of the exemption but why do it if you can pass? Give it a shot maybe alot of the punks that are abusing it will then realize that they can pass too.

Maybe the scale at the emission station was off, the place is pretty ghetto. I want to use the truck weigh station right by me on I80 but I'm thinkin' the workers there will get pissed off.

I would like to do it if they just plug it in. Every code in my car is turned off. It has no exhaust, and doesn't idle for ****. It will burn your eyes at idle. Anyone there with any brain would bounce the car. I would hate to get red flagged. I'll call Jim tomorrow. Andy

Passed emissions pretty easy. Had no cats ect..... Guy even knew I had a turbo. I thought I needed a exemption big time after the new motor and turbo went in. Passed with flying colors. It was stressful during the test. But all good after. Now I can show the cops when they pull me over . Its worth a try.
Z8's didnt you take the camaro through there .

Your car is supposed to weigh that much. You make it out to sound like you have an advantage over the 4th gens. I guess the extra 200 rwhp(in the LS1's) compensates for your light yet slow car
I would assume that all these different scales are not calibrated the same. Who is to say which scales are maintained reguraly, taken care of as directed by the manufacture. But it seems that everyone was close give or take a few hundred lbs.

I got my notice awhile back. Do they run your computer or do they just do a small run and check your exhaust fumes? Reason being is some SES codes are tripping regarding my EGR p0405 and so I was just curious if that would hurt anything. I'm pretty sure it will pass considering its still all stack motor.

thats why you have to live in a little town in south dakota, haha people always go and see what their cars weigh and nobody cares, people drive their dirt track cars to town just to get them weighed
