Default Questions about buying a car...

1- If I apply for a small (6,000) loan on tuesday, when would I get the money?

2- When getting plates, I remembered my 67 having the regular plate for a year, then when they expired I got the custom plate, how exactly does that work?

Thanks!

I can't help too much with your questions, but I'm interested on how the custom plate procedure works in Indiana as well. I think when I got my car I looked at the car on a saturday, went the the bank on monday, and had the check to buy the car by the following Saturday.

I'm probably gonna go Monday then, just to make sure I have it for the weekend....

I think IN does vanity plates every april, but I don't know if I could get them this fast or whatever.....

Thanks!

I got my check the same day that I walked in to apply for a loan at a bank. Plates, its atleast $15 more than a normal plate. I don't know the waiting period though. I just got a DARE plate and I got it the same day that I went in to file for registration and plates.

in ohio, when you get vanity plates, you get a temporary plate for 30 days while the plates are being made (takes less than 2 weeks) its included in the price

As far as I know the deadline for custom plates if you allready have the car was back in like October. Not sure with a new car and plate.

Sounds like IN is weird with the custom plate rules. In IL, you can apply at any time, and if it's a first time regestration, you'll just keep the temp tags till your plate is made (about 6 weeks, give or take a couple). Or if you already have a plate, you just keep using that one till your custom plate is made.

As for the loan, I think how fast you get the cash all depends on the bank. Only time I've ever had car loans were on cars I've bought from dealers, so I just let their financing department handle that. They always get me approved the same day, assuming the banks are still open.

Well I went to the bank today...they told me I need a bill of sale before they can give me the money....I asked how the hell I was supposed to get a bill of sale without CASH ? This **** is getting ridiculous now-a-days!!!

I bet I could have gotten the money if I walked in with a .45

Hmmm.... that's new. Years ago you could apply for the custom plates right when you resgistered the car.

I think it's something like $45 for personalized (letters and numbers) and even more for vanity (all letters or all numbers).

Used to be $14 when I got mine.

You need a copy of the bill of sale. If it is from a dealer, they will know what to give you. The bill of sale, unsigned, doesnt mean you bought the car yet. If from a private party, you can have them write you a bill of sale on a piece of paper, basically saying the vehicle, vin #, miles, selling price, the buyer, and the seller. Hope this helps.

I'm good friends with the bank owners son so I can get a loan when i walk in the door. He's a gear head too so that helps a lot.
