Take me under your wing? Looking to go to a strip near SE IL/SW IN Hey, I've never been to a drag strip before, but I'd like to start going. Would someone be wlling to meet up with me sometime and go with me? I'd rather not drive more than 2 hours one way. I live in Lawrenceville, IL, 62439. I think the Wabash Valley Dragway in Terre Haute is closest, but the Coles County Dragway in Charleston is just about as close, as is the Cordova Dragway Park in Mattoon. Maybe the I-57 Dragstrip in Benton, but that's pushing it.
I have a '99 Z28 M6 with headers and $100 street tires.

Coles County is a good place to start...cheap entry, 1/8th mile racing, tech is super light, on a friday fun night for street cars, $10 will get you 6-10 runs depending on how many cars/how long you let her cool down. Sundays are bracket racing, $25 will get you 3 qualifiing passes and 1-5 rounds (depending on how good you are!)
I would be more than happy to meet up with you...I'll just have to convince myself that its okay to run the daily driver because my purpose built Grand National is down for some upgrades.
Friday Aug. 10th or Friday Aug. 17th would work for me, pending my car doesn't spontaneously combust while installing headers.

Terre Haute is a good 1/8th mile track. Always prepped nicely at least it was with the previous owners. Since the new ones came in this year I haven't been to test it out yet. I know a lot of other cars around here go there every friday night. Between the two tracks you've asked about, I'd say come to Terre Haute.

I used to run @ us41 (when I went regularly)
I just don't think coles county is a good track, it needs some $ put into it, and maybe that will happen as they seem to have pretty good turnouts from what I've seen there
I just prefer 1/4 mile, but a nice 1/8 mile track would be alright if got to know some regulars like used to always catch other MFBA guys @ 41

About Cordova, like the poster above said it is in NW IL, but the website says Mattoon for some reason.
Looked up the US 41 site... Damn, looks like there's some serious drama over there!!!
