What's the diffrence (or is there a diffrence) between lq4 heads and lq9 heads, and how do they compare to the l92 heads?

Wow I haven't been in here in like a week and this place has blown up. Did a lot of just skimming through and see a lot of import talk, and the hall's crowd has changed some. Is there anything important that I've missed? Also Ben the pics look great i'm going to have to have you take some pics for me but that won't be till next year.

NFL season kicks off tonight, who wants to meet up on a Sunday soon and drink some beer and watch some football?

If they're similar year, they should both be 317 casting, and identical. LQ4 and LQ9 difference is in the pistons (dished LQ4 flat top LQ9), I'm not positive, but I believe everything else (physically) is the same.

They have good exhaust ports, not terribly worse than the L92 heads, but the intakes are nowhere near as good. They're essentially LS6 heads with larger chambers and slightly different runners. The L92 intake ports are more closely related to the LS7 head (they were actually originally designed for LS7 use, before they went to the larger bore), while the exhaust ports are revised, but not quite as awesome. L92 heads outflow the 317 LQx heads by a large amount on the intake, and somewhat less so on the exhaust.

The Beast sold... And we're having a party at our hose this sunday for the Bears Colts game if anyone wants to come... We got a big screen solely for setting it by the pool, so we can float around and watch the game

So for a turbo set-up, L92's would probably be better and still fairly cheap, am I correct? I has money thats burning a hole in my pocket

Reguradless of what head you put on it, FOCUS on the exhaust side of things. This is were the L92s lack, you will be pushing air thru it, the exhaust port is what becomes the henderint, causing a/f mixture issues, boost problems and LOSS of hp/trq.

JPH, Do you know if any one makes 1 3/4" primary stainless headers for a 88-95 chevy full size truck. I am trying to stay away from coated or polished if possible. I am thinking of modifying these and turning them around for my turbo headers

L92's don't seem to seal as well as LQ9 from what I have seen...LQ9 head ported by all with good valves and springs would be the best dollar/performance value. I would do a 370 cube iron motor, stock crank, forged rods/pistons/ARP fastners, ported LQ9 heads, reverse the manifolds, ported LS2 intake and ported TB. Proven, cheap, reliable, make lots of power
