Just Enlisted In The ARMY!
Well I just thought I'd share with everyone that I just enlisted in the Army. I leave for basic on May 26th and will be doing my Basic at FT. Jackson South Carolina, and my AIT is in Arizona. The AIT is 29 weeks long so that's sucks. Long time away from the wife and kids but oh well, gotta do what I gotta do.

Don't worry dude, 29 weeks will go by alot faster than you think. AND you'll have a good time.
Just remember: If a Drill Sergeant knows you by name within the first week, it's either very good or really bad. LOL
What is your MOS? If you need/want any tips to help make basic or military life in general any easier just let me know.

Congrats and best of wishes. Hopefully your Recruiter was good to you and explained what is to be expected. When I was recruiting I did my best to give you guys a good understanding and picture of what is to come for you. Congrats again to you.

Congrats on enlisting. You won't regret it. Let us know how it went once you get back. You're going right at the beginning of the summer cycle. Be prepared to have a lot of immature 17-20 year olds around you. And Ft. Jackson will be hot. Remember one thing...
DS: Drink water!
You: Beat the heat, Drill Sergeant, beat the heat!

I could argue that one. Ever been to Ft Rliey, KS or Ft Polk, LA? I think Jackson is above those places. Just my .02 on it.

It's funny you say that, I had a MSGT out here tell me the same thing about Polk after I talked about Jackson. If so, glad to know to stay as far away from those places as possible. I liked Lewis a lot when I was there this past January.

I've been to Polk, Sill, Huachuca, Lewis, Hood, Sam Houston, & Rucker. And I've only been in the Military 4 years. Lewis is by far the best base, however the weather blows (unless you dont mind rain and constand overcast). Huachuca was awesome. Polk as everyone knows it the worst next to Ft. Riley. Sam Houston was cool b.c Air Force chicks were everywhere. Rucker was ummm lame I guess because the surrounding towns do not exist.

This is my 3rd time being stationed at Ft Lewis. I can't complain. I grew up 10 minutes from the base. So, at night or weekends it's very easy to go see the family. I can't stand the weather though. I spent 20 years of my life in this weather. I guess that's why I'll be retiring in California in a couple of years. I got addicted to the sunshine...lol.
