I did 3 days there for a port call when I was on the USS Enterprise, but I never lived there for any length of time.

My Chief is probably going there, and there were a few guys on my ship that were there. They all said they loved it there.

Tried to get it, but got Yemen instead. Still trying to get my girl to meet me there for vacation. They have a pretty good muscle car scene there too. Go for it.

thanks for the words of encouragement. I have been alittle nervous since putting the jass request in with that being my #1 choice. My second choice was NDI on the George Washington.

I have been to Bahrain. Crazy per diem, beautiful cars and women (IMO) everywhere.

Spent 18 months there and it was pretty cool. Not bad for the middle east, you will be surprised. Just hot as hell in summertime though and gotta love those occassional dust storms. Lots of bars and western type stuff and a decent Navy Base. You can get anything you need there and good shopping too. It is alittle on the exspensive side though but not too bad, and you will have to adjust your driving skills because they are nuts over there.
