When my old man was at Incirli for OIF he got a bunch of cool stuff CHEAP. Got a Turkis rug sent home for cheap and in the states would have spent A LOT more.
Said you can get some KILLER Turkish shotguns for a fraction of the cost that you would in the states.
Prices on everything are not final
He was allowed off base quite a bit and got to go sight seeing and all.... then an entire ARMY div came and it was a mad house hahaha.

Yes you can get stuff cheap here, but a lot of it is cheap for a reason. Leather goods/rugs are the most purchased. You can get a over/under shotgun cheaper here than in the states, but the brand is Huglu. They are not anywhere as good as a Browning or other common brand. I purchased one 6 years ago for $300. They are around $600 now days.

I was there last year for 5 months. It was a good time and the night life in Adana was cool awesome. There's tons of carpet shops/gift shops/shotgun shop right in front of the main gate and cultural trips to take off base. You can also go fishing and what have you. there's a alot just get in good with the locals and they'll take you around anywhere. The woman don't look half as bad either. Have a good trip!

I was in Turkey in 95 and again in 96 living in tents making $28.50 per day in per diem. You could get drunk shopping, and never spend a dime! The people are great, the food is awesome(once your body adjusts) and I would go back in a heartbeat! That place is by far the best TDY I have ever been on.

Yes. They keep on bringing you free drinks to loosen you up. I can't say that I mind that technique. I do get tired of kids trying to get me to come into some shop I've got no interest in. You here things like "almost free" all the time. Cracks me up.
