Default staff NCOs came to a veterans day event w/jacked up uniforms

So I went to my sons school this morning since they were celebrating veterans day and they asked all vets to come in. I am a USMC vet.

well 3 recruiters came in to do a flag folding ceremony. 2 were in blues (gunny and ssgt) and one in cammies (ssgt). the gunny (with 16+ years in) in blues showed up w/o a SNCO wasteplate him and the ssgt never bothered to fasten the neck piece of the uniform.

The ssgt in cammies never wore his hat/cover while outside. Technically he was not even suposed to be there in cammies.

They almost messed up the flag ceremony too

I know my father pulled someone aside when he saw him with no cover on outside.

Complete disrespect. Maybe you should find out what recruiting office they were from and give their bodd a call?

I'd have said something to someone... I wouldnt go straight to their boss with it, Thats just me personally, I dont operate like that, but they would have known how I felt about it... besides, its not my rule, its the reg's!!!

just remember it's your fault for not saying something about it too. Well me as a NCO has a duty weather on or off duty to correct people in uniform that are jacked up! The Armys NCO creed says it all. Look it up.

The uniform is suppose to be worn according to regs. I am not one of those uptight ******, but if I see blatent uniform problems, I always would (and still do even though I retired) go up to them and give a friendly reminder. It gets more results than being a ***** and yelling "Where is that cover Airman" from across a parking lot.

Should have blown 'em in place!!!! Being jacked up in public is like trying to hide from .50 cal firing at you. There is no cover or concealment from the Ma Duece .50 cal MG (well, Afghan compound walls......it used to sound cool when I was a private!)!

If not just for the complete disrespect to the uniform that represents all who've served to make our Devil Name so great, they should've also been made to understand that EVERY single one of us is an ambassador for the Marine Corps. That is unsat and is disheartening to hear.

I must have missed the part that said i didnt say anything to him LOL

I spoke to them and they had some lame excuses. I even offered to go home (2 min away) and get him the correct wasteplate.

As a former Marine that makes me sick. But then when I see any branch wearing their cammies at civilian establishments I get upset. I was at a car dealership and a Marine came in wearing cammies. I walked up to him and told he knows he shouldn't be there and that he needed to leave and come back in civies. He did and that was that but a Gunny and SSGT doing that is even worse.
