just looked at my score and i am picking up sergeant. im kinda stoked cus its 16 days before my 4 year mark so i think thats kinda quick. i also found out a week or so ago that i will only be doing a half deployment next year (i have been on 3 7 month tours already) so this month has been a good month for me.

To be honest 6111 isnt even an MOS.

Once you lat move, you're in that MOS; subject to it's composite scores, etc. As an 'A' school instructor, I get to see/train the lateral movers inbound to my MOS. Got one right now who came from admin. Poor bastard's gonna learn to work now (knuckle draggin mechs)!

Congrats 4 years to SGT is not fast at all though, most people are boarded at 3 years if they show any leadership potential..

i have a small mos about 30 cpls and 15 sgts in the whole thing so me getting sgt this fast seems quick to me.

Sounds like my old MOS. What's yours? Took me 5 years but I had gotten into a little trouble a long the way.

I was a 5962 picked cpl in 20 months and picked up Sgt with 2 months left of my 5 year contract. Took me almost 3 years to pick up Sgt.

I think your MOS has to do with how fast is "normal" to get promoted, cause the points are different for different MOS (I'm just talking about Army btw.) I made SGT with 3 yrs and 3 months in, and I could have made it with less than 3 yrs in if I went to the board sooner. But I was in the middle of school/PCSing/other things going on so I kind of took my time getting to the board.

Quick questions for the Marines in here. Anyone else re-enlist this FY. I did and I was pretty sure our extra 60 points were supposed to hit 1st qtr CY08. Well I was running through MOL and other people have gotten their points when it re-calculated 30NOV but mine didn't hit. Any ideas? Just kinda important cause I was first on the list in my MOS and was going to maintain it and now I have two people infront of me. Going to be pissed if it stays that way too. The MOS has been closed for 3 or so months and it usually opens for one and then closed again for another 3 or 4.

my mos is 6214, uav mech. there are only 2 units right now with a third kinda being built

yea man i just looked. The 60 points have figured into my score already, effective Jan 1... i forgot all about that, sweet though.
it will show in you ROS and in the composite score calc as recruiting points
