I have a couple other articles of a bone stock LS1 Camaro SS running in the high 12s if you want to see those too. (if you don't already know, they are the same exact car)

As for the race...
That was completely plausible.
(1.) Autos are pathetic at roll racing at any speed with or without a stall.
(2.) A stock auto dead spot is between ~30 - ~55 and I'm willing to bet that race started at 40.
(3.) And if this Neon guy is a good as he says he is then it was the perfect storm to beat that LS1 car.
But don't get too high on your horse just yet. A manual LS1 car with an equal driver would have embarrassed you.
The article in my previous post does not advocate Mustang owners to sell their cars for a GM LS1 car.
However, I WILL advocate you to sell your Neon for a vastly superior car.

I stand corrected and educated.....and that was a 6M and not the slower auto. That same article showed the SS running a 13.42...traction troubles. I'd like to see those 12 sec runs, not doubting you....just like to know my competition. There have been some bone stock S RT4s that ran 13.2s with no other mod than sticky DOT tires and dumping the clutch, but those are rare.....and I don't really call them stock due to the tire....most of us have to side step the clutch like we drive on the street in traffic due to B A D axle hop and no traction. My solid motor and tranny mounts cured nearly all my axle hop but not traction.
the fastest recorded time is a 12.8.. thats widely known.. li will search when i get home later and see if i can dig things up..
also, there are PLENTY of stock auto cars running low low low 13s..

I love the looks of he newer Vettes and asked the wife about getting one...She said that old guys in Vettes are trying to make up for their little weenies...but she loves the looks of the WS6! Me too....but putting a 2 year old in the back of a 12 second 4 dr Neon is easier than in a 2 door anything.

I think everyone agrees that the NEONS (haha) are fast, especially for what they are. But ls1 f-bodies have a better power to weight ratio with the average one weighing in at 3500lbs and I have heard the average srt weighs around 2900lbs. Can they win are certain occasions... I think yes they can, but I would think 8/10 times would go to the f-body.

There was another article by a GM magazine that I cannot find right now back in 2002 with a stock 02 Camaro SS running high 12s with a dirty paper filter.

not too much really. i have a buddy with an ms4 and m6, but not too street friendly. only has a mail order tune on it though. I PM'd Pred-Z and he recommended the 230/230 612/598 111+2. Not too many people have it right now, but the numbers look very good. great under the curve power, which is what i want. chrs1313 is running awesome times with it cam only. i know i wont touch his times though. 10.8x's i believe. it wont be going in till spring, living in nebraska, so im keeping my options open.
