The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Backstory and car:
Back in 2009 I was driving a 1997 Pontiac GTP, when something happened I didn't think would ever happen to me. Fell asleep at the wheel and went into the woods at an estimated 65 mph. Luckily I walked away with no injuries thanks to the good build of the Pontiac. With the insurance money from that car and everything I had saved up over the course of that summer I immediately set out for another Pontiac, except this time I figured a bigger engine would keep me awake more ;]. While at school I found the silver bird browsing EbayMotors, located a little over an hour from my house. Car was bought for 6500 with 104k miles in upstate New York with exceptionally little rust.
Since then it has become my daily driver (no winters) and I have been slowly working on building it up to be a street monster.
Car:
2000 Trans Am LS1 A4 117k miles. daily driven and track driven.
Lowered on Eibach Pro-Kit sitting on Bilstein Shocks
UMI Subframe Connectors
UMI Double Adjustable Panhard bar
Founders Double Adjustable LCA's w/ relocation brackets
BMR STB
BBK Longtubes/ORY
SLP LM2 Catback
MTI Clear Lid
SLP 25% U/D Pulley
LS6 Intake
NGK Plug Wires
A/C Delete
P&P Throttle Body w/ smooth bellow
Richmond 3.73
17" American Eagle Black Torque Thrust rims w/polished lip all around with Bridgestone 270's up front and Nitto 555R 315's in the rear.
Current best time was 13.3 @ 107 mph with the 2.73 gears
Trackt times with the 3.73's will be coming within the next 2 weeks, but current 0-60mph with the 3.73's is 4.3 seconds.
Future plans include a cam matched with a 3800 Stall, Ported heads, Ford 9" Rear, full swaybar kit.
Goal is to have a 500+HP street driven car that will run 10's in the quarter mile.
Plan is to do this N/A with a possible LQ4 swap.
