3 years ago a local builder put together a 383 that lasted 600 miles, and had little to show for it but a roller missing a motor and 90% of the bolts. Basically I was screwed, with no paperwork, he disappeared.
The car spent 2.5 yrs in the garage and I lost all motivation.
Some friends and I put together a SERIOUS low buck LS1 working nights here and there when we could. Another friend helped me get it installed and running over a 2 night thrash.
Spun bearing LS1 longblock = $100 (score of the year)
Sold heads = Free short block
Salvaged parts from old motor:
Ported heads,decked .050"= high compression (~11.7)

Picked up a cam from Sale section.
With a few good parts and some awesome friends we got her back on the road.
I trapped 107 with a 6500+ ft d.a. with a very rough street tune, and 250 miles on the motor, but it was the last race of the season. We made our goal of making a pass this year. It was an ugly spinning trip down the track, but it runs!
Guessing 420-440 tire when its dialed in. Plus it will see a healthy dose of spray.

Here are a few of mine.
Mods: FAST LS6 intake with 90mm throttle body, TSP long tube headers, 3-in. exhaust with x-pipe and turn-downs before the axle, sub-frame connectors, tubular control arms, and misc. painted parts.
