new motor, paint, wiretuck, etc
I'm doing some work to my camaro. Had a unfortunate event happen, I drove my car through a little water in the road, and hydrolocked the motor. I broke the starter off the block. Don't thing anything internally is broke, it turns over fine, but there could be a bent rod, so instead of taking the chance, I bought a 6.0L truck motor, LQ4, and i'm going to put that in. Also while the motor is out, i'm painting the engine bay and doing some other random work. Here are some pics of the engine removal and where i am at now. More details later
Before
Unhooking everything
picking the car up
motor is out
Empty
Found a little rust
Old motor, ls1 all 172,xxx miles of her
and the new, lq4,
need to get motors installed in cars, getting cramped
Other project, on hold, hiding out in the back. its a 1974 MG midget

other parts i've gathered up
oil pickup tube girdle, very nice piece, holds the pickup so much better than just one bolt

just working away on the body work. i hopefully will have things ruffed in by tomorrow, then just a little more filler and its time to prime. this body work is holding me up, once i get the bay finished and painted, its just a matter of reinstalling everything and building the exhaust. as of today, my dad, being the great guy he is, gave me one of his vehicles to finish so i can bracket race it, so i have to get the camaro put together.
the new car is a 85 s10 with a 383 w/tunnel ram and dual 650's, full roller valvetrain, afr heads. pretty stout motor. turbo350 trans, built with manual valvebody. stock 7.5" rear with limited slip diff. things i need to do are build new rearend, build 6 point rollbar, transbrake, maybe some nitrous. with nitrous i would like to run mid to low 9's. shooting for mid 10's all motor. for the rear probably just a 12bolt with a spool. tires 28x11.50's. should be a good truck to race for a couple years, till i can afford my super comp dragster. and my dad won't have to hear me talk about racing his car all the time, he runs a 67 chevelle with 500cubic inch big block, turbo 400 5.90's 1/8mile
