Pretty much sums it up. The ZR1 (and Z06) are fantastic performers that always put a smile on your face, but you can tell the reasons why they are so inexpensive for the performance you get.

I don't think anyone is doubting that the Vette is undoubtedly faster than the R8.

The thing is the Zr1 is a handful on the track and you need to know what you are doing to go fast in anything other than a straight line. I just had that experience with my own Z06 doing autocross for the first time...they are tricky to drive.

The R8 is simple in comparision. It's not nearly the animal or as aggressive as the Zr1, thus Clarkson's comment on how any of them could probably get close to the Stig's time in the R8 but it takes a Stig to get a fast run out of the Zr1.

I like both cars a lot but the ZR1 fits my style better. I have seen the v8 R8 in person and really wasn't that impressed. I even got to ride with it and see it go. Its just not for me.

Actually they commented a lot on the R8 going sideways with The Stig driving more often than the ZR1.
