Default StreetSweeper HT open cutout Idle

Specs are 228/232 .614/.600 111 LSA. The sound level meter recorded max noise at 112 dB idling around 900 rpm. Still needs some tuning...

I have a Vigilante 4000 stall that takes 2500-3000 rpm to get up to speed. Its nice having the luxury of choosing noise levels at the touch of a button.

I considered the 236/240 SS, but I didnt want to have to flycut stock pistons if I went with milled heads in the future. I have stock 241 heads with .040 head gaskets. My goal was to build a quick street car without sacrificing drive ability.

So far, the loose stall had a bigger impact than the cam. Yeah the cam sounds rough and rowdy, but any rpm over 1500 feels as smooth as stock. I cant really say if the cam has added much power, I installed the torque converter a week before and it has been an adjustment just to get used that.

Thanks for the info, I really just want a nice lope, I have enough power for the street now. You get on it anywhere but the highway and you can barely get out of first.

Did you get it from FTI or New Era?

I went through New Era, they shipped fast out of NY and they had great customer service responding to all my questions. The cam is a little pricey by itself, but they had good prices on a walbro 255, hotwire kit, and chromoly PRs so it made up the difference for me. I went with PRC dual valve springs from TSP. In retrospect, it probably would have been a little cheaper to buy everything as a kit, but I pieced everything together over some time.

112 dB through the open cutout. Its around 75-80 dB through the catback.

Just for comparison, I recorded 96 dB through the open cutout with boltons and the stock cam.
