Default 2011 5.0 Mustang GT Dyno Baseline Video

A local customer came to the shop today and was nice enough to let us put his 57 mile 2011 5.0 Mustang GT on the dyno. Photos don't do the wheels and suspension justice... in person, the car looks amazing!

I was impressed by the HP numbers. In years past, it took heads, cams, full exhaust, CAI and tune to get these kind of numbers out of a GT. The numbers are close to the typical numbers we see from a 2010 Camaro for the HP and about 20 less torque, but that is to be expected from the small displacement.

actually, yes, they did run it in 5th gear... the getrag in the 2011 5.0 mustang 5th gear is the 1:1 ratio...

Let's see that 402 of yours on the dyno. Let's see what kind of low end power you're making.

This new 5.0 looks to be pretty promising...good starting point.

Those are GREAT numbers for a stock GT.

Also a stock 2011 GT with just 3.31 gear and base 18 inch wheels and tires ran a 12.77 a couple days ago.

Ford hit a home run with this car.

Base weight for the 2011 GT is 3603lbs. I think the 5th gen is mid 3800s lb range.

Here is a graph showing a stock LS3 SS vs the 5.0. The LS3 makes more power/tq the entire way, but that is expected from the larger displacement.

Blue is Camaro, Red is Mustang

Ford made a decent n/a 5.4 they put in the Cobra R. Sadly that never made it into the regular stangs.

I think I would take the new 5.0 though.

Good job to ford

Now lets see how well it responds to mods, that will be the true test. If it does well in that dept. I foresee this engine making it into quite a few older stangs, it seems like a very stout piece.

Evolution Performance took delivery of a 2011 GT. Bone stock it dynoed 368(on mustang dyno).

They added offroad x-pipe, catback exhaust, upper/lower control arms, drop in air filter, and tuned it. With those mods it put down 405rwhp.

Here is a video of it running with those mods, also on tires:

Then after that they said they were doing more tunning. Specifically with the Ti-VVT. They haven't yet released number after that tuning yet though but here is a video of it running this weekend:
