AMS sets a new pump-gas record for the GTR... 10.1 @ 138 MPH. Nuts.
I love V8 RWD cars, and always have... but AWD turbo cars are awesome, plain and simple. If you're interested, the video is here.

Its is funny how jaded we become after a few years of modding. Whilst that doesnt seem fast especially for a record if we think back to the first couple years of LS1's everyone had a hard on for making 400 rwhp and gettin into the top 11's. So Id say only a couple years into the GTR and almost into the 9's is great.
But at the same time it does seem easy (I use that loosely cause I am talkin about a shop that has some CRAZY evo's and Supras) to make a ton of power on anything now. Everyone is able to tune so its jsut a matter of having big enough everything. I assume their heads and what not are good for boost. And that they dont need to get aftermarket ones. Similar to the Supras' head's.
Im sure AMS will have a 8 sec GTR soon.

This car has upgraded turbos, intercooler piping, exhaust, injectors, fuel pump, intercooler, and tune.
Not sure what tires they ran on, but I'm guessing it was drag radials at the most extreme.
Stock intake manifold. Stock cams. Stock heads. Stock tranny. Stock gears.
It trapped 138 mph on pump gas.
That is impressive. If you don't think so, then that's fine, but I disagree.
This car is not in the same league as a heads/cammed out, stalled out F-body with 4.56 gears and slicks. Even then, those cars do not trap in the high 130's.

When I first saw this thread, my response was going to be "yawn". But I figured eh, i'll leave it alone. Glad to see i'm not alone in being unimpressed.
I suppose when you consider how heavy this car is, then perhaps this becomes newsworthy...but then you have to remember this is an $80k car and in that company, 10's is basically buy-in.
It does look alot better in black too...i'll say that. Loses some of it's "sheet metal shi-tzu" appearance.

Seems like there's a new GTR ____ record every other week. It was cool in the in the beginning, now it's just annoying.
Don't get me wrong, I love the car. I'm just over the omghi2ubbqgtr!!1!! hype and have moved on.
Cool video, ams does grear things.

Not trying to bring the GTR hype, I just like fast cars.
When it all boils down, this is a stock street car (albeit expen$$ive) that traps 138 mph on pump gas with upgraded turbos, intercooler, and exhaust.
138 mph.
The upgrades as listed on the AMS website are $22,000.
Yes, I am making an assumption that this car has awesome street manners. I do not know by experience. Having said that, even at $100k, having a car like this that traps 138 mph as driven to the track deserves credit in my book.
Imagine what it would do with a built motor, ported head, race gas, upgraded tranny, slicks, and weight reduction. I'm guessing we'll find out soon.
Not trying to discredit V8 cars, just wanting to post a cool video of a fast car.

Couple recent dynos from Switzers R1K GTR and SP Engineering's GTR.
There are several other big power GTR builds finishing up. Mid 9's were done with a lot less power, won't be long before one posts an 8 second pass.

Below is a comparison from our previous setup. With our SPE hybrid turbochargers (modified Greddy TD06), our low end response was not lost. We have gained more top end and have determined 1050+ AWHP can be achieved at 35psi.

I've read about half of the thread, and before I read any further something caught my eye-
You mentioned the mods than a link to the manufacturer with a price tag of $22,000......
Is this correct?

It's pretty easy to spend $20K on mods. It costs money to go fast, particularly when you're running twin turbos.

Everytime without fail...
"thread of non ls powered car breaking record/ making power"
immediete resposnes "hahah what an idiot an LS1 would have done that cheaper/faster!"
Sad really.
Now on topic both of those GTRs are amazing, not how i would spend that kind of money but i still admire those cars.

Understandable. After all, when you have a 100K to spend on a car, wtf is 22,000 on mods? To *me* this is a bit out of the ordinary. I can get a nice car for 20,000 and put 2K into it and run pretty nice times for a street car.
