Default nsx gone but never forgotten

until yesterday i had a 91 nsx..03 viper...08 ram...04 quest....05 liberty..

my daughter just turned 16 and has been begging a for a car. I tried to get her to learn the stick in the nsx but she was just to scared...

Well somthing had to give and being that I like my viper just a LIL better because it's newer and has warranty ect and cheaper to fix..

I traded the 91 nsx with 88K miles for a brand new Kia Forte..

I bought this nsx for 34K 3 years ago..The market has been so soft here in hawaii that even priced at 22K for the past 6 months I havent been able to move it...

Well the dealer got me pretty close to what i wanted for the car at an auction and the deal was made..

Id like to bow out saying that despite buying my car so high at 34K and depite the 4 K for a new clutch and timing chain..Despite the 8K for a new engine when the BBSC blew the origional engine up...despite the 2K I had in electrical gremilins ect...Despite the 50K I had invested into this car and looseing 30K...

despite all that the past 6 months with everything right on the car has been automotive bliss. This car has so much soul while driving it is just rediculoius. days when I planned on driving the Viper I ended up grabbing the keys for the nsx...

What it didnt have in overall speed the car had in off the line excelleration and 1 handed curve takeing smiles, along with quick effortless lane changes at 90 mph..

I will miss the nsx dearly and $$$ permitting I will add a 02 nsx along side my 03 Viper one day..

But as sad as I am to see the nsx go my Daughters smile as she begins her automotive journey is enough to keep me happy..

A quick glance of my nsx...

I can't believe that nobody grabbed it for so cheap.

NSXs are such classy, timeless cars. It must pain you to see it go.

An NSX for a Kia...

I have to say, if I had a daughter, and my choices were to trade my NSX in to get her a Kia or to keep the NSX, well I'd tell her that walking is good exercise. Preferably from the window of my NSX as I was taking it for another drive just because...

I was waiting for pics of a wrecked nsx to go along with the wrecked Vipers.
I'll pretend like you didn't say Kia. Outside of that, nice job being a good dad.

Wow. That sucks. I miss the nsx for you.

On a related note, i think a child should earn there first car, not just get a brand new car.

I agree. I had to earn everything myself, and its the way it should be. I mean, everybody needs help from their parents at an early age but... Anyway... I ALMOST bought an NSX when I got out of basic. I love those cars. They might not be very fast in a sraight line, but MAN they can carve a canyon.

she did earn it...she's the oldest of my four children and she has baby sitted for me and my wife to go watch a movie 1000 times. She has done her chores to a high standard every single time. Her last two report cards were honer rolls. I told her she couldnt date till she was 16 and she never fought me on it. On her 16thy b-Day a young 15 year old whom I respect as a great overall guy/athlete here in hawaii asked me for permission to date her..

She currently goes to school. Does TaekwonDoe 3 times a weak and cooks for less fortunate people twice a weak.

Every time she got $$$ from family or for b-days ect I put 75% into a savings for her and let her keep the 25%. She never fought me on this and now has more saved up in her account than most 40 year olds..

in short she is just a great person and she really deserved it. i cant say that about my 11 year old daughter or 9 year old son and if they continue their ways they will be lucky to get a car worth 4K. But my 7 year old daughter is following in my 16 year olds foot steps..

just painting a picture...many kids dont deserve anything nice and are just spoiled. I assure you this isnt the case with her. If I were a rich man I would have gotten her a brand new mercedes to show her how much she's appreciated

Glad to here man. I have a 13 month old girl and I hope one day she is as level headed as your daughter sounds to be. We need more of this now days. Parents teaching there kids money management. Making them work for a living even if it is at home. A kid cant hardly work any where until he or she is 16 and in a lot of cases some jobs are 18. My parents bought me my first car so I could get a job and I paid them back every month out of my paycheck. Good work sucks you had to get ride of the ol NSX though. But I understand you got to do what you got to do.

Screw all of the haters in this thread. I'm sure that 99% of the people that bashed your choice, don't have kids, let alone one where as responsible as your daughter when they were young.

A car last XX years, your daughter lasts your WHOLE life.

Great move bro, I respect that

Not too bad really. A 20 year old Acura for a new KIA. KIA has been improving their vehicles alot over the past few years. Although I think Alexz would be walking before I sold off my TA.

I'm with 99Z28LS1. I'll be the first to also say your daughter's hot!!
All kidding aside, Congrats on being a good dad, and making the right move. Haters have their priorities a little screwed up imo.

What everyone else is saying X1000. Making your kid get a job and buy their own stuff is the only way they will really know the value of it, and buying a BRAND new car as someones first car is always a bad idea.

Thats what insurance is for.. You can teach your kid values and morals and thats what matters.. not whether or not they got a brand new car at 16.. I know i sure as **** i don't want my kids vehicle breaking down all the time.. plus you cant shake a stick at a 10yr 100k mile warranty..
