Default Tire Failure at 220mph. LMR TT Camaro v. *Fantastic Save*

I can see Josh (Co-owner of LMR) have one of the largest sighs of relief in his life around the 57 second mark. LOL

M/T Drag Radials....

Not meant to sustain over 200+ mph. A few cars had these issues at the Texas Mile a coupe of weeks ago.

That pass destroyed the 18" x 13" CCW's and they could not find another wheel setup for the rear end, hence why LMR ran on the 20" wheels + Street tires... and cruised to a 239mph pull.

Pic to show one of the rears:

Amazing video. Him being so quick to pull the chute without a doubt saved the car. Fantastic driving!

It did. Usually if the car begins to "washtub" as it did when the tires went down, throwing the chute will help straighten it up.

Definitely had to saw on the wheel to keep that thing from turning around till the very end where the turn off is.

This is why it pays off to have a guy behind the wheel with experience at any type of event that involves big power vehicles.

So what are the other tires people are running at the mile events?
