Sure....I know there not Ford/Chevy/Mopar parts. I also know that GM stuff has never had to rely on them as heavily as the Furd crowd.

Take me for instance...stock longblock production engine (ls6). Gonna be swapped out before long with another stock longblock production engine (ls7) that should get me to the low side of 10's @ 135+/-.

My deal is that if your gonna make comments about your sbf. Then use REAL sbf parts. If you don't then what's sbf about it?

just like people that use "lsx" blocks, it is still an ls-series motor/platform.

Fine... then I will use a Ford Motorsports block.... it will make no difference. A set of stock styled 15* cylinder heads.....

Your argument is invalid.

Before you make posts like this; you might want to think about what you are posting.

Bod Glidden and Jack Roush back in the early 70's had to keep adding weight and wheel base to their cars because the SBC cars could not keep up with the Cleveland...back when Pro Stock meant using mainly stock parts.

I never really cared for 347s but they can run

I have an old Motorsports R block in mine-couldn't get the Dart back then. Man it needed a ton of machine work before it was ready for assembly.

I bet you just about as much in machine work as you had in buying the block; I have a W block that came unmachined on a pallet.

What "machine work"? Like adding clearance of the main webbing to help clear the stroke of the crank? (rod ends/bolts?)

I have worked with more Dart Blocks, Ford Motorsport stuff, and other items from Roush/Yates that I would care to admit and only at the level of building we did for 10,000 RPM naturally aspirated small blocks did they need "extra" work. This was also using 15* victor glidden heads based off the typical small block ford design as well as a super victor intake and 4150 bodied Carburetor. No welding of the ports were also allowed.....

It was good to generate over 980 horsepower at almost 10,000 rpm.

Yes-I believe also the bores were not in finished shape either. I have to look at reciepts Bennett built it-had it built back in 01. Still kicking at around 650RWHP(331 with a centri blower). Bought the block from Joe Amato at Downs who was only person around with one in stock

Ok, that is fairly typical with those stroker motors, just like the GEN I-II SBC's.

Now, as far as the cylinders coming in out of round, that is something else. Usually I can bump a hone through them and get the block ready to go. Deck of the block should be in good shape and ready to have some heads strapped on it.

Sure it does. You want to nutswing on your sbf. But yet you don't want to use real sbf parts. I don't get it. If I'm gonna swing from ls stuff I'm gonna(and I am) backing it up with oe stuff. Are you telling me the sbf stuff from ford ain't that great? That's what your sayin if you don't use Ford parts.
