I'm with Jay. The distinctive sound of a combustion engine is what makes motorsports....motorsports. I'm very impressed at what an electric motor is capable of but, watching that video just looks boring.

I'm intrigued by electric cars. I love the idea of alternative fuels all together, and new technologies..
I'd like to know how long his batteries last... and how long they take to charge.. and most importantly.. how much do they COST?
+1 tho.. electric class drag racing will not be as interesting as the roar of open headers...

I recently changed jobs and I've been working with the guy that built this car. He just showed me the video yesterday. Apparently he owns a shop around here, knows a lot of the same people I know, was on Pinks twice (2nd season) and was here on tech for a while. He built a couple LS cars but he says he doesn't mess with em too much anymore. He says he can do some work on my 10b for me. -bent axle.
Anyway.. It runs a bit faster than I would have ever expected..
And this guy is NOT a tree-hugger. He drives a 94 S10 and we work on diesel engines all day, he's one of the lead techs.

yea man I don't get where other methods other than standard internal combustion=tree hugger.
I don't really care HOW the car goes fast.. I just want it to go fast.. this guy's picking up on the trend and messing with it and getting some good times.. I think it's awesome.
I can see in a decade, people doing EV conversions on classics (that is.. considering tech catches up.. it's VERY fledgling right now.. and not at all viable.. and may not ever be! but.. whatever.)
I can picture the young guys that are 10, 12, 14 now going to school for electrical engineering and building up some 3rd gen EV and taking it to a super chevy show and trying to talk shop with the "old" guys like I'll be.
it should make for some interesting conversations..
I know a guy that's about to retire from a carrer working on golf cars that's doing an EV conversion.. I think he's doing a saturn? I don't remember now.. but he's had a lifetime career with this stuff.. it's his way of tinkering.. and I say more power to him.. (no pun intended..) He's a big car guy.. loves fast cars, big motorcycles, model airplanes.. not at all a tree hugger.
