No actually I didn't realize I was wrong.
I just decided that it wasn't worth my time to fight this fight.
Because I didn't buy this through ebay, I don't think paypal is
going to do anything. I'm just going to take a loss & buy a new box.
I just recieved this this morning. I was shocked by the condition.
The wood on the back of the box was badly chipped. It was soft
& it looked like it had gotten wet. The corner of the front was
broken & hanging by the carpet. One of the speaker terminals
was partially broken off, & the stitching was coming unstitched
from the subwoofer cone.
You claimed that the sub & sub box were in perfect condition
before you edited your post. I'm going to prove you're lying.

This is the original picture he sent me of the sub box & sub:
If you look closely at the corner you can tell it's broken.
I should have spotted it before I sent payment.

Here are a few closer pictures of the damage:
This is an overall picture of the box:

This is a close up of the terminal connection that is partially broken off:
(It's tough to see from this picture.)

Sorry about the picture quality & size. I'm a photobucket newbie.
If you look at the pictures you'll see who the scammer is.
He shipped the subwoofer promptly once I sent payment.
But he was 100% fraudulant about the condition.
He even accused me of damaging it myself & trying to scam him.

Be really careful buying from this guy.

I just realized that I never posted the transacion details.
Here's how everything went down.

1. He posted that he had a stealth enclosure for sale in this thread:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/texas-cla...de-f-body.html

2. I saw that & sent him a PM about it. We exchanged a few PM's
discussing a price & we finally settled on $150 shipped.

3. He emailed me the photo I posted above & said the box & subwoofer
were in perfect condition. So I sent the $150 through paypal.

4. He shipped the sub out Thursday & I recieved it today (Saturday).
Obviously I was shocked by the condition since he said it was in
perfect condition.

5. I sent him an email saying I wanted my money back. He said he
would only refund it after I shipped it back. But there's no way I'm
going to trust this guy to send payment after he lied about the condition.

6. I filed a paypal dispute & this is the response I got:
Our investigation into your claim is complete. As stated in our User
Agreement, the claims process only applies to the shipment of goods. It
does not apply to complaints about the attributes or quality of goods
received. Therefore, we are unable to reverse this transaction or issue a
refund.

So in summary, paypal isn't going to do anything.

7. I told the seller I was done. I didn't want to try to argue with paypal.
It would probably be useless anyways. I had planned to just forget about
this, but then I saw this tread. So now I'm upset again.

At first i thought this was some 16 yr old not knowing anything about subs and i just explained it to him! He then wanted me to give him setup for 110 plus shipping/paypal for $40 so 150 shipped. The i get an email that he was unhappy and the box was broken and sub was torn and all the bull **** that was never there. Since it just came out of my brothers car after being there for 3 yrs and never one day problem since new. I gave him a call he was amazed a guy would lie like this to get something for nothing! just double checking and he agreed there was a small paint chip on back but thought at all that was noticeable. This guy now wants a refund and him keep the sub and box which is worth 400-500 buck i gave him for 110. I am amazed a person on tech would try such a scam. I have bought and traded on tech and ebay a ton and never had one problem buying or selling! Just learned you can be scammed on selling end, not only buying! I am a honest person with perfect feedback on ebay and tech i am still shocked. I am tempted to file on this guy! But not worth the time and energy! Shame you were not in Texas to have a little talk about scamming people.

What you are doing is fraud! Buying undamaged goods and damaging goods and stating otherwise!

1. You can buy the sub box new through subthump for $140 shipped.
You can buy a new kicker 10" L5 sub through ebay for $119 shipped.
So you can buy this combo new for $259 shipped.
I paid $150 shipped for a 3 year old combo.

2. I'm not in Texas, I'm in Oklahoma. I wish I was in Texas, because
then I would have seen the condition of the box before I bought it.
If you want my phone number I'll give it to you.

3. You stated that the subwoofer & box were in perfect condition.
The photo that you sent me clearly shows that the upper left corner
is broken. I've never owned a stealth box, so I didn't realize it was
damaged. I didn't know that the corner was supposed to be straight
instead of bent.

4. The most surprising thing about this whole ordeal is that you have
a perfect trader rating on here. (I do also.) You said it was your brothers
sub box & subwoofer, so maybe he is lying to you.

I've posted photographical proof that you lied about the
condition of the subwoofer box. Anyone that looks at the
photo can tell that.

I decided to make that large & bold so that you would see it & address it.
How do you explain telling me it was in perfect condtion, when the picture
you sent me clearly shows the corner of the edge is broken?

I'm tired of arguing. When you break it all down, He claims the
sub & box were undamaged when he shipped them. I know that
they were damaged when I recieved them.

I think I may have found a solution.
I'm going to file a claim for damage through fedex. I know that the
corner was broken because of the picture you sent me. But I guess
the wood that was chipped off on the back could have happened
during shipping. Crazier things have happened.

Hopefully we can have a happy ending to this whole mess.
