Default Power Door Locks

Trying to troubleshoot the power door locks on the 98 TA I just purchased. Neither the driver or passenger lock will lock or unlock powered. Both switches will make a clicking sound both when pressed in the vicinity of the BCM. I believe car had an aftermarket alarm system that the previous owner removed before I bought it, so could he have done something to screw with the locks? I doubt that both actuators are bad, so I suppose I'll open up the passenger kick plate and take a look at the BCM. Any ideas?

Hey, I have the same exact problem on a '98. The BCM clicks but the locks won't work. Please keep posting because I haven't found a fix yet.

If you suspect the previous owner had an aftermarket alarm system i would check the ground side of the power door lock circuit. the driver, passenger switch and bcm share a common ground. they could have tapped the circuit there.

Is the common ground under the drivers kick panel next to the A pillar?

Yes,
Near the left A-pillar, bolted to the instrument panel mounting stud behind the kick panel

Well just as I thought there were two wires cut at the BCM. One was the lock and the other unlock so of course the locks wouldn't work. I assume there was a quick aftermarket alarm removal. Spliced em back together and taped them and wala door locks now work.
