Default Basic mod questions

This winter break, I was thinking of doing several mods together, and I'm sure if some of them are worth the expense and time, so I'm looking for some feedback.

Car right now: 2002 Z28, M6 - has 101k on it. It is my daily driver sees about 90-250 miles a week depending on work and school.

Current mods: Lid, ported tb, aftermarket hurst shifter, subframe connectors

Planned mods: 25% UD pulley, pcmforless tune, electric cutout, possibly a 160 thermostat (not sure if its needed)

Are these worth it? I'm staying away from headers at the moment because I drive too much to have the car down for more than a day so please don't suggest them.

What are the supposed gains in terms of hp? How many reduced tenths in the 1/4? Any increase in mileage? Anything to harm daily drivability?

Just looking for input here on all these mods put together. Thanks guys.

Headers should not take more than one day. Get a friend to help out. Just make sure you can get the car high enough.

I have heard positive and negative things about underdrive pulleys, even for an M6, but its up to you, I steered clear, especially for a daily driver. Don't know much about that tune your interested in. Cut out is a good idea. And I believe the only reason for the 160 thermo is if you lived somewhere where it gets really hot out all day, otherwise the stock one works great.

Dont do the 160 stat on a stock engine. Cat back would be nice and a fast toys ram air would help.

hmm the thermostat keeps the engine cooler regardless of the outside temperature. its suppoused to keep it much lower that stock and make more power. i would recomend it, its hella cheap anyway. you might hear things about a MAF. stock one works fine, don't change it...

wanna make your car fun to drive with having to add a cam, heads, headers, torque converter, gears etc.....do some suspension mods.
Strano Bilsteins or Koni shocks
Larger front sway bar
Strano springs

But if you don't want to take the time to do the shocks and springs, a 35mm Suspension Techniques sway bar would be a good start, will only cost you about $130 and will take an hour max to install.

Thanks for the feedback so far guys.

The only reason I mentioned the 160 thermo is because when I talked to Bryan at PCMforless, he suggested it. I don't really see the whole point, especially on a stock car.

As for the header thing, I've had 3 bad experiences with them, and do not really feel like doing it again. Plus for all the work of fabbing up a new exhaust, its a pain.

Electric cutout is probably a go. I like the idea of quiet or loud because as weird as this, enjoy how quiet a stock car is.

Fast toys ram air - thought about it, made my own, thought about installing it, remembered how many downpours and snow storms I drive through and said pass.

Suspension mods - Something I completely forgot about! Thanks, vjo! I might move in this direction. Is there a shock that isn't as harsh as the bilstein, but soaks up road imperfections better than stock? I was also thinking LCAs and sway bars (maybe a panhard bar too?)

So far the ones I'm liking are:

Cutout

Tune

Suspension

A great set up would be Koni shocks, strano springs, strano 35/22mm sway bar set, and an adjustable panhard bar to straighten the rear end out after lowering it. All that stuff roughly comes out to about $1700 and will make the biggest impression on you compared to any other mods like pulleys, tune ect for the buck.

Personally I would skip the tune for now. I just don't think it would make that big of a difference with minor mods. Definitly go with the cutout and the underdrive pulley. Together they will make a difference you can feel. As for the FTRA you made, why not make a block off piece for it and just plug it up any time you are in a rainstorm? Besides, unless you drive directly into a deep puddle you wouldn't do any damage anyway.
