Default Gas Gauge

Hey fools, that needle in the gauge is not 100% accurate of what you have used or have left in the tank. Most women i know would say something like they get better gas mileage closer to a full tank than when they are closer to empty. Cause the needle moves faster on the empty side. Common sense and half a brain will tell you just the opposite cause when your tank is full your carrying around more weight, fuel 6.6 lbs. per gall,

The important thing is to be kind to your "fool" pump - don't let it fall much below 1/4.

Gas weighs a little over 6.0lbs/ Gallon, and the tank full is 95lbs of Gas, so if you are that concerned with the weight, it may get you an extra small fraction of a mile being closer to empty, but I think our cars have enough power to carry a full Gas Tank..

The gauge can actually be recalibrated with HPtuners. I'm guessing other tuner-programs could do it as well.

Notorious problem with at least the Pontiacs I have had. I had a 95 Grand Am, top of the tank lasted forever, when you hit half you need to find a gas station. You could see it drop by the mile. Got better with the Firebirds I have had, 97, 01 and now 02. But I do not trust that last 1/4 tank.

^^It is, the Tank tapers down in the bottom of it, so when the float goes down with the Fuel Level, it really shows a mis-read.
About the only 2 accurate readings are Full and Empty..lol

Maybe for a 1999 and up Car, but not for anything 1998 and back.
