Default new DD, trailblazer SS

i just bought a new to me 06 TBSS, i just wanted to see what fellow owners on the board had to say about them. likes and dislikes. any info would be great. Also i had it on the highway today for the first time and its a nice ride. But does everyone elses cruise at about 2K rpms @ 65? just seems higher than what i would have expected out of a V8 with OD. thanks.

I love mine! It is a great DD. Once you get past the horrible gas milage it's great LOL. 2k at 65 sounds about right.

I almost bought one, but decided to get an 05 TB LT....to get the SS I would have had to trade in my WS6. They are really nice, but I think I would have missed my f-body too much.

Thumbs up

Welcome and nice choice of vehicle. My TB SS is my DD. The TB SS has a 9.5" 14-bolt rear end with 4.10 gears. As mentioned above once you get past the horrible mpg it's a great ride.

That sounds like a beefy rear end compared to a 7.5" 10 bolt! Or also compared to a 9" with 10 bolts. Do all the TBSSs have that 4.10 gear ratio from the factory?

I just picked one up about 2 months ago. 06 TBSS, 50k on the clock, AWD, black, and everything but a sunroof and nav.

I absolutely love it, despite the horrid gas mileage. On the highway, I get maybe 16 at best mpg, and anywhere from 10-14 or so around town. In the last week I have driven it through a half foot of snow, snow packed down by ice, freezing rain, and mud and the thing keeps kicking ***. I folded the back seats down and moved, carried xmas tree, the whole 9 yards.

I'm looking forward to taking it on a long trip so my kid can watch a DVD in the back! It's everything I wanted and more. Plus it hauls for what it is and thats what I wanted.

As far as mods, mine will stay stock for a little while, but I plan on getting an IEATSRT8 Cold Air Intake and some kind of catback. I'd love the dual pipe SLP but it's too pricey for me. And eventually get it tuned.

Very true. The utility aspect of the TB SS is rarely mentioned and is what makes the TB SS so well rounded. I've hauled a bunch of different stuff from car parts (engine, transmission, wheels, tires, etc) to mundane stuff like moving boxes, home improvement junk or whatever needs to be moved around.

The only mods I have are a home made CAI. I do use EFILive and tuned it myself (picked up about 17 whp and 25 ft lb of torque with a mild tune). I've since tweaked the tune further and it really screams now. But that is it for mods since this is my DD.

Thanks. No I don't have a pic, but it looks pretty good. I actually modified the stock unit by removing the silencer inside the air box and inlet tube. I covered the inlet tube with thin sheet metal then wrapped it in real carbon fiber (silver).

Nice ride!!

I never would have guessed that they have the 9.5" 14 bolt, I would have figured they just had the standard GM truck 8.5" 10 bolt, which is pretty strong itself.
