Default Bought my first Z28 yesterday. How long to get used to it?

I just bought my first Z28 Camaro after driving for about a year and a half, and am a little nervous about parking the thing anywhere because of the long engine bay. How long did it take all of you guys to get used to the long engine bay and did you ever scrape the side on anything?

Stupid question, I know, but I really am nervous about that.

Because of the sloping design it takes some getting used to. I went from a honda to my Z and I was nervous for a couple weeks. Just takes *** in seat time and you will get the feel for her.

I got a 2002 35th anniversary edition z28. It is has new looking black paint, black leather interior, 6 speed manual transmission, K&N high performance air filter, after market amp for a 10" subwoofer. Has after market rims, not sure the brand or anything all i know is im going to get zo6 rims next year, and a flow master muffler, not sure which one. Also it has 25,000 original miles. I will have pictures up soon once there is sun out and my camera works again.

I am overall very happy with the car and its performance. I just am worried about insurance, gas mileage, and parking.

How do you guys do with your 6 speed manual transmission on gas? What kind of mpg are we talking?

Well I've got 3.42's in my SS and I get around 28 mpg cruising at 70 on the highway. I've gotten anywhere from single digits to low 20's in the city, it really depends on how you drive it. Everyone I talk to thinks these cars get terrible mileage but unless you're coming from a little economy car like a honda I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with the gas mileage.

Is that an upgraded transmission? My car is basically all stock except for the few minor things i listed in the previous post. What kind of transmission does a stock 2002 z28 come with? Would be better or worse than your 3.42's if it is not the same and how different?

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what you are saying. I am going to love gas with a 6 speed meaning I am going to love the gas mileage it produces? So when your car was stock with an automatic transmission, you were getting roughly around 24 mpg. Now your getting 16-17 with a 6 speed manual transmission? I would assume that you would get better gas mileage with more gears and especially with that 6 gear. Am I wrong?

He means Yes you will get great mileage with the six speed.
Before he put a stall in his auto it got 24. He stalled it, which is keeping the same auto trans, just raising the rpms you are able to rev up to before you break the tires loose(thats a real, real basic description).
After stalling it, his gas mileage went down.
At least i think that is what he is trying to say lol

If you have a 6 speed you have 3.42's, and those are the gears in the rear end not transmission. stock transmission is a t-56, in no way does that have anything to do with the 3.42's congrats on the car, sounds like a great one.

As far as parking it goes, just remember that it's better to be safe than sorry. Error on the side of caution.

You'll get used to it. I remembered the first time I drove an f-body (4th gen firebird), I thought I was going to SMASH into every car when I turned.
