Smile Shock and springs combo preferance?

Ok Im thinking about working on my suspension next month and I would like to drop the car and also install some new shocks. My question is what spring and shock combo should I go with? My car is a 2002 TA, it's my daily driver, I want good handling control and smooth ride with the car, I also tend to go to the track a few times and also do some street racing so will need a combo that can performe. I think the Koni's might be out of the question since they are way over my budget, but what else is out there that I can get? My budget is about $800.

Thnx,

Jebuz

i'd recommend bilsteins if you can't afford koni's. i'm extremely happy with mine. make sure you get them valved properly for the springs you're running though.

i bought slp eibachs/bilsteins for $100 locally. then some hypercoils and revalves for the front for $130. then i sold the slp bilstein shocks for 120 and the springs for 65 so i ended up getting everything for $45 haha.

for springs i'd recommend BMR, hotchkis, or hypercoils if you can find them. i have no firsthand experience but no matter how good they look i don't i'd ever run the eibach prokit or sportlines on my car. they're supposed to be bad for turning.

If your main goal with your car is drag racing then get the QA1s, Strange, or Afco drag shocks.

Otherwise get the Slp Bilsteins, KYB agx , or Edelbrock IAS

Any of these would be good: Strano's, Hotchkis, Hypercoils, and BMR.

And if your interested I have some Eibach lt1 pro-kit, and K.B. Hypercoil front springs.

Not for handling or ride quality.

If I were you I would buy the Konis and use the lower perch and the rear hose mod. That will get you a 3/4" drop and amazing handling.

Strano springs and Koni's. If you can't afford the Koni's then get revalved Bilstein's. If you can't afford both shocks and springs at the same time, then save up to buy both, unless you want to use the stock springs (softer ride). As previously mentioned, you can use the lower perch with the Koni's and do the "heater hose" mod for the rear to lower the car without really sacrificing ride quality...

Strano is a sponsor and has a ton of positive experiences here. Check out the sponsor list on the right. I haven't personally done any business with him yet, though I plan to eventually. I would trust him.

Call Sam before you do anything. He may recommend a different setup that will suit your needs better. With lowering springs I would personally not want to be on any shock that isn't valved for that spring (like bilstien HD's, which are not valved for anything but stock springs).
And yes that is his own site, and while it might not look like too much he isn't concerned with that, he is more interested in getting the correct parts out to people.
