Default Flow master muffler 80 series

Why do you say they suck? What was the flow master part number that you used. Flow master came out with a new 80 series just for the LS1's, but the muffler shops do not carry it in stock or even know about it, so they just go and fit the incorrect one on your car so they get the sale. There is a new one that out flows the the old one big time and has a much deeper sound. I know, I talked with flow master before I ordered mine.

"Flow master muffler 80 series" Dont go there, they belong on a motor home not a Camaro. Unless you dont care about power loss, if you do get a 10 series 1 chamber. Thats the only Flowmaster muffler that I would ever run.

So whats the "good" part number?

I recently spent hours searching this site, finally placed a 2nd day delivery order for a Hooker Aerochamber.
I have a ready to bolt on flowmaster 80 series with tips and all. Stock muffler on the car.
Hundreds and hundreds of comments already posted about the flowmaster turned me away. So here we go again I guess.

One thing I noticed about the Hooker. The internals are stainless steel, the case is aluminized. Most people here say it's 100% not stainless.

Here we go again on the old Flowmaster debate

The biggest drawback to the 80 series is that it's another reverse flow design and it has a limited case size which makes it restrictive. A straight thru muffler will obviously flow better but you won't have your dual exhaust look. It's already been documented that a single out setup will out flow a dual out setup when one muffler is used for both, there is an inherent lose of efficiency when the gasses are forced to reverse there direction. Unfortunately too many people can't get over having only one exhaust tip. I've had two flowmaster setups both were single on the left (SOTL). The original is a 3" Kit available thru Flowmaster using a 40 series 2 chamber muffler. The second and current setup is a Mufflex 3.5" kit with a 30 series Race Muffer and a tucked up turn down tip for a clean rear appearance.

^ this is true. the only catback for the rx8 that has any power increase is one with a single tip. but if you care so much about flow, get duals.

The new flow master for the bigger hp ls1 is #53083. 3in in and two 2-1/2in out. The case is a 5in instead of a 4in. 17in long instead of 15in. Internals set up also to flow better. I will be putting mine on this week.

Can't really go wrong with the Hooker though. They flow really good Mine was just too quiet stock but now the b!tch screams and is ALMOST too loud sometimes

Yea, I have the 43083, came with the car but not installed. I put a stock one on instead.

I hope it sounds good on my car, I have LT's and no cats and it's got that weird tin can sound under acceleration.
It was ok with gutted cats and stock exhaust but this things got to go.

Too bad I don't have some free dyno time, I could do the stock CB, the old # flowmaster, then the Hooker.
It's a very typical lid, lt's, ory car.

I'm assuming I'll feel a difference too?
It's got pacesetters to an edelbrock ory with a full 3" outlet, and I'll be taking off the 2 3/4 pipe and stock Z28 muffler and replacing it with a walker 3" to the Hooker (but I'm keeping the stock tail pipes).

same here, and there is a noticeable difference, and it would sound good except it has a really bad resonating sound at like 3 different rpms. Im wondering if something inside the flowmasters has come apart, or if there is something vibrating which is causing the resonating "whine" sound.

What brand of cut out do you use. Where do you order it from and were do you weld it in. Also were did you find a hole to run it inside.
