Smile Motor & tranny swap!!!???

i have a 98 automatic v6 3.8L camaro. i want to swap the motor to a LS1 and change the tranny to a 6 speed. and im lookin for estimated prices. im a bit of a newbbbb so any hints or tips or suggestions would help me out

i would look for a complete totaled car and it would be a lot easier just to switch everything out, and you would have all of the parts.... idk 4 grand?

Any reason you don't want to just buy an M6 LS1? It might be more cost effective not to mention the hassle. There are some good deals out there...

he means buy a camaro with a ls1-6speed trans in it.. z28 or ss model something like that. you can find them for 5xxx-7xxx grand now days, the price getting cheap.

Sell your car for a few grand and pick up an LS1 M6 car. I've seen some nice ones starting at $7,000.

By the time you do the entire powertrain swap you will be well over the difference between selling your car and buying a Z28 or SS, unless you can somehow find a wrecked car with a good powertrain for dirt cheap.

dude i would but i still owe on it. i owe like 6k i know its not wirth it but i kinda got rip`d off at a buy here pay here place. so i pay`d a whole lot more than what it was worth. and now some 1 hit it while it was park`d and i dont got the money to fix it. so im pretty much screw`d

with the money for the motor/trans swap pay it off or get close to it then you can get an LS1 car when you can sell that one

lol im thinkin about just totaling it and dealing with the insurance. i think that would be easier
