I've tried it and would never ever recommend doing it

Ported throttle body worth it?
I've been seeing online where they can port and polish your stock throttle body... Has anyone had thid done, and if so, does it actually net any noticible gains whatsoever? Don't have the money to upgrade to 90mm or fast intake or anything... just wondering if porting the stock one does any good, and how much? thanks!

So it won't cause irradic idling or any weird crap like that? Seems like everything I do to the car lately had good points as well as sacrifices. Also.. Whats the hole for in the throttle plate I've seen on some of the advertised ported throttle bodys? It's just a little hole like below the bottom center of the round disc...Looks like it might make the car whistle or something...

if you get one that is over ported it will screw up your idle.
I bought one for my car, but I was modding so fast back then I never really stopped to check... I'd say its worth it if you're into racing, but if not don't worry about it

I had a ported stock tb installed on my bird and have actually noticed some power gain
But be careful, it might not be worth it since you will have to tune it.... my car started running lean after that

Never heard of having to get a tune after putting on a ported t/b. was your car just undrivable after getting it done or what? Very noobish sounding I know ,but not familiar with the term 'running lean. Mind explaining? You also have an 02 ls1 which unless I'm mistaken came with a larger cam than a stock 99 T/A didn't it? Which could matter some I suppose... I'm hoping I won't run into that problem whatever it may be, cause I went ahead ordered one tonight. It will be ported, bump-stop shaved, shaft-halved, blade thinned and sanded, and will have the lines cut and capped off so I can do the bypass with the coolant lines.

Ugh.. sorry to **** on this good news. But, after a good, thorough P/P Throttle body installation i ran into some idling issues. Car idles higher than usual after a complete stop (or startup/ parking idle). RPM needle surges up and down at times. Whistling noises are directly responsive to my acceleration, and gets louder as i drive faster (until high-speeds, then the whistling dissapears).. Just wanted to expose you to all angles.. Perhaps it's not the P&P TB.
