Nice find! I thought all M6 cars came with 3:42s.
As for where to start, I would start with basic maintenance, plugs, oil change, ect..
Oh, and a lid.

The seller said there were 2.73s in there. It might explain why my speedo is off. I thought the M6 came with 3.42. I will get picks up sometime within the week. I got the car for 5,000. Good price for a 98?

The seller sounds like a moron then lol, all m6's have 3.42s you would notice a LARGE difference if it had 2.73s and he would have to have put them in himself which im not sure why a person would do that. 5k isnt a bad price though so good find

^^ lol

For it having over 110k miles and the past owner not knowing dick about the car, do some maintenance first. start off with a lid. Then work your way to the Long tube headers with your choice of y-pipe + catback or some true duals. After that get some gears + tune. Then on and on.

either the seller doesnt know what hes talking about or he got a rear end replacement or gear replacement and went with something a little smaller. that could be it, he just didnt explain himself.

If you had 2.73s, im not sure but ud have one hell of a long 1st gear.. u imagine that with 3.42s, hell even 4.10s a m6 wont hit the top speed. If you had 2.73s youd def notice that, you would be maxing out like 6th gear at 300mph LOL or something way out of reach. I say since the seller didn't know **** most likely, u should go change the spark plugs nd wires first, change the oil, make sure everythings all good. Then go for the mods like a lid and such.

^^^what everyone else is saying.

get back to basically a clean slate, and see what exactly you are working with. id definaltey find out what gears are in it though. then lid, catback, headers, suspension

doubt it, sounds like the seller has no idea what he is doing. no way he would accomplish that lol.

How does the seller sound like he doesn't know what he is doing? The car could very well have 2.73s in it for many various reasons.

maybe the seller blew up the 3.42 rear end and got a 2.73 rear cheap... but one easy way to tell... whats your rpm at 60 in 6th? if you can even USE 6th at 60 then you dont have 2.73's

Well I will do some maintenance and change plugs and all that. Then I'll go from there with a lid and so forth. Hey andrew69 what kind of parts you got? My rpm's at 60 in 6th gear is somewhere less than 1500.

I run 1500 like at 65.

That is with factory M6 and 3.42's.
