Default Headers!

I finally picked up a set of long tubes QTP Stainless Headers 1 3/4. I'm stoked to finally get my hands on a pair now time to get everything together for the install. Let me know if I am missing anything:
1. Catted Y from QTP
2. New Gaskets
3. Polyurthene Motor Mounts
4. Tune for ses lights after egr/air deleted

You are going to need o2 extensions or go get rear o2 sensors for a C5 vette to use for your front o2 sensors. I think the Bosch part # is 13111 if you go that route. I have the C5 sensors and they work great. Other than that looks good

might wanna do plugs/wires at the same time too just because they're right there and they're coming off anyway

also i see you have an ls6 intake. is the EGR already deleted or is it the slp one with the port?

Make sure you got good gaskets and not paper ones or you will be pissed before long. The GM MLS are as good as any and IIRC $20 or less. Just reuse your current bolts.

Oh, and band clamps.........definitely use band clamps.

anti seize for the spark plugs also. And maybe torque wrench for the header bolts. Are you reusing the stock ones, or you getting lockers? I hear good **** about stage 8 locking bolts.

I changed the plugs/wires last winter when I installed new tranny and the exhaust was dropped. I don't want to have to do this again so I'll go with the recommended gaskets and stage 8 locking bolts. Manifold is going in tuesday with no egr I already have block off plates for the egr.
Thanks for the input guys.

You don't need the poly motor mounts unless the old ones are bad. That's just going to make your car shake WITH the motor lol.

I say skip the locking header bolts. Unless your stockers are junk I don't see any reason to not reuse them. The stock manifold gaskets on your car are as good if not better than most aftermarket gaskets out there. And the header bolts, well, to each his own I suppose. But I reused my stockers and they were just fine.

Everyone I talked to has said to do mounts because it will be the best time to install, and it will curb the old y pipe banging the floor issue.

i didn't do motor mounts just because i'm lazy, but i would strongly suggest doing it. my y-pipe banged for about a week and then i adjusted it and shoved some steel wool it and now it's fine. better just to do it though.

and i decided to use the felpro gaskets because they look like they squish it a little bit to help seal it

if you don't have money for new o2's you can just lengthen the wires on your original ones so they will reach

well if your mounts are still good then you shouldn't have any banging issues... bad mounts can also cause your lid to get scratched on the underside of the hood... in my opinion, if you install headers you should just go ahead and do the mounts as a preventative measure... it might seem like a pain but it will save you a big headache if you ever had to take everything back off to put them in... i'm actually about to start on mine today... jet hot long tubes, bassani duals, poly mounts, and removing egr/air... can't wait until it's done

I don't have poly mounts and my 98 SS has 46K on it and I have kooks headers with the catted y-pipe and I have no banging up under the floor board, I guess it just depends on how good of shape your stock mounts are. I have good clearance for the Long tubes and good clearance for the catted Y-pipe ground and floor board. But I've heard alot of people talking about the poly mounts and maybe banging issues. Just put my half of a penny in on it.

Yeah you're right def dependent on current condition of your mounts.
