Default convert power to manual?

im tired of power windows. i replaced the driver side twice and i know the pass. side is going to go soon. plus on my car the windows dont go up and down very fast. i miss having the crank. it never broke, never had to replace it.

does anyone know if i can convert my power windows to manual crank windows? i always see "How To" convert manual to power.

Just start from rear and work your way back to beginning.

Cutting hole for crank would be shaky for me I am nto good with a dremel at all. LOL

well the sites i found to convert manual to power were not camaro specific. it was just a general "How To" i think. did these cars come out with a manual window option?

if they did, maybe i could just buy a door panel that had manual windows.

I have been in fourth gens with manual windows, and I believe that the option was very rare. If it were me I'd just put up with the slow windows. I wouldn't wanna risk hacking my car up and also making it less desirable in the resale market b/c its manual and not power.

^^^^ very true. only reason i wanna change it is because the regulators ALWAYS break. i dont know anyone with a car that hasnt had to get there power window fixed severel times. i just got my regulator changed today and i know i will have to do it again soon. its not a big fix ($165) but its just anoying.

I have never replaced my window motors. You are just having bad luck.

just looked at ebay. they are a lot cheaper. mine was 120 and i saw a few for 75 after shipping! sense these things go out so often i think its time for me to just start changing them myself. only thing i was worried about was breaking clips, but there are no clips in these door panels. i watched the guy take it off and its just hooks, take off the screws, unplug the switches and lift up.

this is a driveway project from now on. but if anyone finds manual window door panels and all the stuff in the door for the window, PM me with a price.

thannks for the help

You must have a garage queen. I've had 3 f-bodies, and between the three of them the widow motors have died no less than 8 times.

just get them from a parts store and they'll have a lifetime warranty. the first time you do it, you have to drill the rivets out and use the supplied bolts, but since they've been done already, it's just a bolt in deal.

yup. I bought one with a lifetime warranty a LONG time ago... worth every penny. Pretty sure all the major auto parts stores do this.

Still on my original window regulators in my 98'. I tell people in my car not to even think about rolling the window up and down. I only do it on special occasions, maybe one every 2 weeks.

******* GM rat turd parts.

Yet, I did snap a window guide that scratched the crap out of my window.

i would stick with the power unless your trying to build a full on race car.its not that hard to do and a life time warranty.i would just deal with it....if your ac works you dont need to roll the windows down ...lol
