Default Should I keep, part out, or sell my car? Or engine swap from a 215K V6?

Ok so my poor old P.O.S. is just about ready to kick the bucket. My question unto you experienced and smarter readers, is this. I HAVE to replace the transmission this weekend. The synchro is shot, so i am going to just grab a used transmission from an older firebird and call it done for now. I figure after 215K miles and a few small wrecks I will either need to make some big changes or sell the car. IF I swap the engine I am gonna go ahead and go V8. What would be the best engine? I would probably have to find a used engine and (manual preferably) transmission. I just replaced the wheels and tires (thank god) and im planning on doing a couple small things to it. How much would a new engine and tranny cost, and is it a good idea to keep the car at all? or should I go ahead and get a loan for a trans am? (Seeing all of your F-bodies make me drool a little bit. I have to have one someday.) Money is tight so i couldnt get a very nice one, in the 10-13K$ range. Feel free to ask any questions or PM me.

Sell your car and get an LS1 car if you are looking to spend that much.

I would say sell the car, or part it out. its up to you.
You can find great deals on either a camaro, or firebird on craigslist, some taken care of with low miles. Its up to you, but definitely either sell, or part out.

i can sayt hat even with a v8 in it you will have at least 5k wrapped up in a motor/trans and ecm. plus the work to do it and you may still not be done with it, gears etc. sell it or part it out and buy an ls1 car you could find a very nice modded z28 or even SS for 10k or a nice trans am for the same money and it wont have nearly 215k miles on the car. get what you can for the T/A and be done with it, not worth salvaging because the 5k you put in it, you most likely get close to that in resale.

You guys are awesome. I have to say I am leaning toward Trans Ams.... I would like above a 2000 year and WS6 would be nice. Is there anything that goes wrong with these cars at a certain time? For example a durango has a notorious problem with transmission, tiburons have a clutch issue, etcetc. And could any of you guys post pics of your car and an estimate of what you have spent?

Part out, or keep it for a roller and sell everything off of it you can and try to sell the body.

Yeah, buy a LS1 car, then just parting out the V6 piece by piece, and when the time comes, you sell the roller for someone trying to make a high hp car with a lite body

I bought my car for 12k back in 07. Since then all it has install would be the flowmaster 40 series, everything else is stock. it has sounds. thats about it.
Free ram air. she now has 92k miles.
check my album. I also mounted a 295/50.16 tire in the rear, and went smaller up front.

Someone sent me a link to a 2000 trans am and offered it for 10K.... This is really leaning me towards selling it. And I found an LT-1 at a you pull it auto junkyard for 300 and it has less miles than mine, i might check that out.
