I have made a habit, lately, of getting Shell V-power. Bit ALWAYS premium, no matter where it comes from.

jimmyblue, that is interesting.

Default Bp/Amoco

Hers my 2 cents I run nothing but Amoco, due to the fact, I'm a petroleum Tech I work on Gas pumps and dispensers which run thousands of gallons a year threw them and Bp/Amoco are the most clean and parts less wear.

That is the same for me, I used to run BP premium only, and one day I was almost out of fuel, so I pulled in to a random shell to fill up. It might be just me, but I swear after that I had a bit more power, and I know I have gotten a 1-2mpg increase in fuel economy.

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/autos/octane.htm

read that. the government put it out for consumers. all ls1 cars require high octane to prevent pinging, 89 or higher for stock cars is all thats needed.

BP has 92 octane while everywhere else here has 91. So thats my choice. I think Shell, BP, Mobil, etc are top notch.

I have to somewhat agree with what z289899 said almost 2 years ago.
I work with a guy that used to deliver fuel for years and he told me that as long as I stuck to the bigger chains (BP, Shell, and Citgo here in north central/western IL) that the gas all came out of the same tanks.
That being said I get 2-3 more mpg using Citgo 89 octane over any other fuel I've tried the last 25k miles in my 04 Monte Carlo.
Not sure what I'll start using in the new LS1 yet....

Separate gasoline bulk terminals locally ie, BP, Marathon, Citgo, etc. each have their own storage tanks. Gasoline and diesel additives are typically introduced inline when product is transferred from storage tank to tanker truck.
Same thing happened (ie wgt% S) last year damaging fuel pumps, sender, etc. Changes lubricity properties of the fuel. Currently, additive tanks are being installed to address the lubricity issue with low S diesel.

Your ECM doesnt know anything above 94 octane. Save your money

Regardless of PCM awareness, what about the difference in the physical properties of higher octane fuel?
