Default Lucas oil stabilizers

Does any one use that Lucas oil stabilizers. Ive used it in the past on my 89 camaro a lot, but a friend of mine told me i should stay away from them. I just dont want to mess up my car.

Its usless IMO, alot of research goes into OIL and its chemical makeup, why mess up that chemical balance with a foriegn substance.

ask yourself why do you feel you need it?

it wont add HP or free up HP if anything you will lose a little HP from the oil being a thicker weight.

I look at is as the same lines of ricers adding wings an octain booster to their car, it gives them the feeling they are faster, but it really didnt do anything.

They are useless IMO too. I do like the injector cleaner though. Ive never had any luck with it.

I tried their stabilize once and the next oil change i had significantly more metal caked on my drain plug magnet than with any other oil change. Stay away from that stuff.

The only stuff I would ever mix in with oil:
-AutoRX
-Seafoam (for short periods of time)
-Marvel Mystery Oil

But generally, just stick to a good oil like German Castrol or Amsoil, etc., change your oil on time, and you shouldn't need that stuff.

I also wonder the same about their oil stabilizer...but i've never run it. However, I ran the injector cleaner in everything I own...3 cars, jetski, 4 wheeler. And never had any problems. Hell I got my truck with 180k miles (just a beater), and I ran the cleaner. It started smoking on start up, even on my next tank of fresh fuel(quick puff). I was getting upset that maybe this injector cleaner had some ill effect on my engine. Well after I filled up the next time it went away and the truck has had better mileage ever since. I think it just did a great job of cleaning everything out.

Just my $0.02

All of those oil additives have teflon in them. Why is this bad? Well teflon is EXTREMELY sticky and gummy, do you want that substance floating around your engine when oil needs to be slick and smooth?

Got proof? People on Bobistheoilguy like those things, and BITOG is the most respected oil information site around. Why should I believe you? I've used Seafoam and AutoRX and had good results so far.

I've always heard that Lucas ends up increasing how much foaming you have. I remember seeing it on Bob is the oil guy a while back.

Oh, yeah, Lucas oil crap is pretty hated. I wasn't sticking up for it, but rather for the ones I listed.

I'm talking about oil additives not engine cleaners.

Do they still make STP? You've never seen old school at its best then! Don't put anything in your oil. Your just asking for trouble.

I'm NOT a fan of mixing anything in with the oil.

Just use good oil !
