Well I'm selling my lightning tomorrow as I'm pretty much tired of it and I'm looking for an ls1. I ran across a few listings and if you guys could look them over for me i'd appreciate it.
http://stlouis.craigslist.org/cto/1468568758.html The guy with the formula said it went 13.1 at 112.

I'm looking to run high 11's while still being a DD. small shot of nos. which car would be the better bet or should I keep looking? Sorry I don't know much. Thanks,
Corey

Preface!: This is just my opinion! I'm a little gun-shy toward buying a car that has been toyed with alot ESPECIALLY if it's gonna be my DD. If it were me I would look for something a little closer to stock, but if you want something that's already fairly modded, you better test it out good. Make sure everything is in good running order. If I had to pick between those 2 I would pick the Z. I think formulas are not good looking cars, but they are good if you're looking for a sleeper. I also think the Z might weigh a tick less (splitting hairs). I don't know if I would run nitrous on a high mileage LS1 if I'm gonna drive it everyday, but it's your choice. Just make sure if you do buy a nitrous system you don't skimp on the parts. That's how you get blowed up. Haha. Good luck with your decision!

Thanks for the help guys. I'm still lost. I may consider looking for a low mileage stockish car but in searching for my lightning i found you can save a lot of money if you buy one already modded and done right. Also this is my first year of college and I don't have tons of time.

buy an already modified car, just make sure everything check out with it...
And those are some crappy times for that formula with those mods... Thats what it should run with just mild bolt ons imo, guy must not know how to drive

This one feels right, 4900, ton of mods, knock. shoudn't be too hard to fix.

Are you from St. Louis? If so check these two local sites for cars for sale that are modified.
www.fastlouis.com
www.mofbody.com
Me personally I like to start with a bone stock low mileage car so that I know what I'm dealing with. Too many f-bodies are modified wrong and ruined as the person doing the work has no clue. The ones done right, the owners think all of those mods make the car worth a billion dollars.

this website has a "for sale" thread near the bottom. i would also look on car soup.com (some dealers / some private parties) i would take any car to a trusted mechanic and pay $50 to $100 to have them look it over (like a 100 point maintainance check) before buying. has it been raced? has it been dynoed? how many owners? carfax. mods? good luck. ps in todays tuff economy $$ talks. dont be afraid to ask for a slightly lower offer. cheers!

i shopped for my car for a good 6 months...i didnt get the best deal in the world i got a 2002 WS6 with 90k miles for 9 grand. took it everywhere to get it checked out. my uncle is a gm mechanic and he looked it over top to bottom. looked at car fax had no accidents at any point. and i was the second owner. first owner was an older guy and used it to travel to work and back. he had maintenence records and it was bone stock. Was black leather with black exterior and manual. was the car i been looking for for ages. so my suggestion is dont settle. wait and you will get the car you are looking for. and talk money i talked him down from 15-9 cuz i noticed it had a bad headlight motor and there was moisture in the rear driver side taillights. not 6k worth of damage but none the less. let us know how you do!
