Hey WS6 guys, get in here!
Hey everyone, I have a probably commonly asked question that I couldn't find an answer to in the stickies: What kind of induction is best for the WS6? I've got a 2000 model with only an aftermarket catback on it. I'm thinking about th following options:
1) The Volant dual cone air filter set-up
2) The JAAM set-up
3) Just buy a lid and forget about the other stuff
Thanks in advance for your responses.

the volant setup makes the air go through the nostrils and seals it off from the rest of the engine very similar to how the older LT1 style airbox is. i don't know why GM went to the up from the bottom setup for the WS6 in 98.

I have the K&N as well, but id have to throw my vote in for a lid...just due to the price, and some may argue about the K&N getting some warm air from under the hood. but i plan on cutting a hole underneath the filter and doing some kind of lower ram air setup and building a box that seal against the hood so my ram air hood is actually ram air....

that looks pretty similar to the LT1 style airbox. I wonder if i really gained 15hp over the stock 2 90 degree bend setup. I think the factory claimed 20hp although that might have included exhaust work (or was the 96-97 WS6 exhaust just different tips?)

Just debaffel your hood and seal it.

Well, it sounds like the most cost-effective mod is the lid, so I'll probably order one pretty soon. I don't like the idea of "de-baffling" the hood because A) I don't like rigging things up on the car (they don't look good (IMO)) B) I don't want to do anything that I can't return to factory. That's just my opinion on the subject. Thanks for the advice everyone.
Cheers,
Cole

K&N is definitely NOT the best.
Your best setup would be a lid plus debaffled & sealed hood, as mentioned above.

I'll think about it but I probably won't get to it. School's fixing to fire up again and I will have zero spare time. I just wanted something small to boost the hp a tad. I wanna hang on to this car and eventually make it into a street legal monster someday...after graduation. Right now, my wife's salary doesn't leave any cash for mods. Sorry for the rabbit trail, but thanks for the suggestion!

get a lid and some free mods, such as cutting out the plastic trim under the air filter and taking the two black plastic pieces out from behind the hood scoops.
