Question 1998 z28 or ss?

Ok I just got a 1998 camaro and it was sold to me as a z28. When I went to get insurance on it the lady says it comes up as a ss not a z28. It does have alot of slp stuff rims exhaust but no ss hood or badges. What does everyone think what is going on here?

I think you got lucky. lol I'm not exactly sure but i think there should be something to look for on the inside of the driver door. I'm sure someone else will chime in. Congrats on the Buy...

It will say WU8 on the inside of the drivers side door. But all SS's show up as Z28's to insurance companies? At least mine does because they're Z28 with the SS package. Carfax will tell you but to be for sure call SLP and tell them the last 8 numbers of your vin and they'll tell you your build number, if it's an SS.

This doesnt make sense, SS's come up as Z28's.....just call SLP and give them the VIN # and they can tell you.

Well thanks ya all for the input ill try to call slp in the morning and see. It just through me for a loop when I gave her the vin and she said it was a ss. I told her no its a z28 and she said yes a z28 ss. I doesnt change how I feel about the car. I wanted a nbm m6 fbody and was about to buy a a4 car and this came up. So I got the car I wanted and im happy.

All SSs were Z28s first, then SLP converted them as a subcontractor for GM.

The car should come up as a Z28 no matter if it is an SS or not. As stated above, check the SPID sticker on the driver's door for the RPO "WU8". If you see that, it's an SS. If not, it isn't. This way you can find out right now rather than waiting for SLP to open.

If it is a SS on the passenger side door will sometimes have an SLP door sticker with the options SLP put on the car.
