I got this 1999 Trans Am and I was told it's an slp car. But I don't know how to tell if it is or not. I know it has a posi rear with a 3.73 gear and a nice exaust but other than that it has an slp badge on the rear but it looks like someone may have put that there. lol since I'm new to Fbodys I need to learn as much as possible.

not sure on a trans am but on a camaro in the rpo codes on the driver door wu8 is in there somewhere

 

The only LS1 Firebirds that went to SLP were the Firehawks. The only SLP TAs were a couple year LT1 WS6 cars. Sorry, they told you wrong.

 

yea you would actually have a rpo code of y2y plus a slp sticker on the inside of the door telling you what options it had

LIke said above, the Firehawks were done by SLP. The WS6 cars went to ASC

 

The previous owner probably bought some SLP parts and got the badge with his order.

To my knowledge no actual SLP car had an SLP badge, but I could be wrong.

 

The only sticker my car has with a definitive SLP logo is on my driver's side door. It advises that the car was modified to OEM spec by Street Legal Performance. But yeah other than that, no badge with SLP on it. **note** the pass side door does say SLP too but with the options

 

Can't you call up SLP and tell them your VIN?

Thats how i confirmed my Hawk

 

The only SLP car made for Pontiac was the Firehawk. The firehawk has emblems that tell you it's a firehawk, not SLP. Like mentioned earlier, you should be able to ask SLP with your VIN. They were a low production car and all serial numbered. The down side is that SLP offered a "birth certificate", parts and badges that looked like a real Firehawk that were sold separately so you could make your own.
