Dead spot help
Hey guys i might have messed up. i did the free ram air mod with at home port and polish MAF* and i have a dead spot at 4000 to 5500 rpms. It may have been there before but i just noticed it a lil while ago. i was thinking air/fuel ratio or maybe a simple tune up would do it. Any body have ne ideas?

Honestly, you might just be getting used to the car. Did you notice this immediately after you polished the MAF? Are you throwing any codes? I guess you could have messed something up.
But if you are asking if something as simple as a ported TB, and polished MAF would constitute a tune, the short answer is no. The only reason your car should be running different is if you hurt something during the process of modifying the MAF/TB.

the dead spot im refering to is im at wide open throttle and it feels like i let go of the gas about half way then kicks back from 5500 to red line (which isnt very much) well i bought a 100 shot NOS kit and i dont wanna run it until i get it fixed if it is too lean it could cause problems. just dont wanna get ahead of myself and mess something up...

I just assumed that if you ported your MAF, you would have saw all the sut (spelling?). You can buy the MAF cleaner from any automotive store. You just spray it on, and let it evaporate. You could also use q-tips to assure everything is clean. Don't apply pressure, but gently slide the q tip across the wires like mentioned above.
If the dead spot is super noticeable, then you might really be having problems How many miles are on the car, and have you done a tune up? The fuel filter would be a good idea to look at, as mentioned above. You might check your fuel pressure. If you can afford a wideband O2, it would be a good investment. I think it's an important item to have when running N2O.
If you have a dyno available in your area, it might be a good idea to throw the car on it. They should have a wideband to monitor your car on the dyno. A dyno can be a great diagnostic tool to figure out if you are actually having a problem, and see how severe your problem might be.
I would definitely recommend staying away from the nitrous until you get everything figured out. Running a power adder on an already handicapped car is just asking for trouble.
Good luck, and let us know if you figure anything out. If you find anything else out that might help us diagnose your problem, be sure to post it up.
