408ci would be a 4'' stroke crank and a .030 over bore.

You can build a 414c.i. with a 4.060 bore and a 4" stroke. I've seen people build a 422c.i. with a 4.030" bore and a 4.125" stroke.

Think smaller if you are gonna run a power adder. You will want the thicker cylinder walls. The 4.0 stroke is perfect these motors IMO. The 4.125 stroke can cause issues from the piston dropping so low in the bore. Not always but sometimes.......

How big a hit you gonna spray? You might wanna post up in the nitrous section.....

And just buy the best heads you can afford period. That's what makes the power...

cheap and fast dont really go together but as far as stock gm heads id go with a set of L92 heads, if it was me id get them ported as well. Also if your doing big hits of spray id want the thickest cylinder walls i could.....i wouldnt go over 408 CI.

no...with stock main caps, you can safely get 800 hp out of it.

also, forget GM heads if your gonna ram all that spray down its throat. you will start lifting the head and push water.

if your gonna hit it that hard, you need a head with a thicker deck. (AFR, TFS etc...)

Man Dont go over a 408 with spray. If you do a cam have it specd out and have a custom grind thats what I did with my 370. I have seen turbo 370s push some serious power around that area. You doing a direct port kit. You will have to with that much spray. Also you need to start with a 150 shot get a decent tune then work your way up. There is alot that comes into play with nitrous you just dont throw a shot in there.

Get a LQ9, stoke it to a 408 and start working up to spraying a 300 shot at it. That's my plan, just make sure you put some quality internals in it. Like said above, get a set of well ported L92 heads and a nitrous grind cam.
