Its weird. When i start the car, the gauges go all the way right and then go back to the left. It takes a few secounds and then the guages work fine. Took the TA to the muffler shop today and it started after that.. Im guessing something is shorting out??? Anyone have any clue on where to start looking??

The battery is like 2-3 months old. I put my volt meter to the battery posts and it reads 12.7 volts. Was reading the above searches and it mentioned a TSB..What is that?

Technical Service Bulletin sent to the GM dealership shops to diagnose problems. You can see them listed for any car at alldata.com

Default what could cause this

If they move all the way to the right and then all the way to the left and after that they move to their position (RPm,oil presure, fuel level and temp if is the engine is warm ) that is normal, Thats the way the ecm check itself

FWIW,

My '98 did not do it and my '02 doesn't do it either. I'm with Kev98Ta. If you have a '99 they were notorious for this problem. The TSB was for the dealer to do a replacement of the guage cluster. Of course, out of warranty is probably expensive through the dealer.

Good Luck,
