Out with the LT1, in with the LS1!
Today, I’m officially a member of the “Fish-mouth” Camaro Club!
Old...
(All cleaned up)
(after taking wheels off, hiding in the back dealer lot)
New...
After years of dealing with issues with my LT1, I decided to get a LS1, even though I MUCH prefer the looks of the LT1, but function over looks rules, LOL. I also MUCH prefer silver over pewter, but it’s growing on me, except for the black mirrors which I’m going to get painted in the spring. Might even paint the B-pillar body color. I've also got to get used to the leather interior/seats, which are kinda slippery for how I drive.
Price? A little higher than I wanted to pay, but they took my LT1 in trade. Good luck to whoever buys it.
Plans? Nothing more than a catback and good shocks. That should keep me close to 2010 and older Mustangs. I plan on hopefully driving the hell out of it, unlike my LT1 which was terribly unreliable. I'll also do a few appearance changes like clear corners, but that's about it.
I like to do much of my own maintenance and upgrade work if possible and time permitting. Are LS1 motors a lot easier to work on for things like water pumps, plugs, belts and hoses, etc.?

If you only knew... That car was a freakin' nightmare. If it would have run more than a month without breaking, I would have kept it. I also found out AFTER I bought it that it was in a wreck; that's why the paint was so nice. They actually did a good job repainting - I didn't notice UNTIL it accidentally got scratched. The driver's door and fender are RED underneath. Of course CarFax and a private auto inspector missed that when I bought it.
Seriously, my LT1 had more repair costs than what I paid for it, and I'm talking THOUSANDS of dollars and I'm just talking about stuff just to keep it running - no real performance upgrades. I might just do a thread on how NOT to buy a used car, LOL.
As far as the clear corners...I'm waiting for my wife to leave the room so I can sneak and order them, LOL.

Hood, maybe. Spoiler, nope - just not a big spoiler fan, even though it's not really that big.
And you're right, it's definitely a big upgrade in performance. The LT1 had a better "dig" at the start, but the LS1 just keeps winding, especially on the upper end (obviously).
One cool thing I found out is that the LS1 has a "low fuel" indicator - the Check Gages light comes on. My old 97 V6 and 97 LT1 didn't do that.

Lesson learned - don't buy a car long distance unless you can check it yourself.
