Default Where to find LS1

Relatively new to the game. I'm looking for an LS1 engine with cast iron block. What vehicles had these to help with my search?

If I'm understanding the question correctly, then I would say that most go with the 6.0L iron block out of the trucks and put an LS1 top end on it. LQ4/LQ9 are the Names if I'm not mistaken. Plenty to be found about it on this site tho! Good luck!

If you want the LS in an iron block you'll be looking for the Vortech truck block = 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 liter. Just saw 3 in the junkyard here in CAli. The 5.3 is the most common of all LS designs.

Thank you Anthony. All the different model numbers are a little confusing to me. So, the LM7 IS the same as the LS1.

No the LM7 is the genIII 5.3 iron truck block. LS1's are the aluminum block on ly found in 97-04 Vettes (except Z06) 98-02 F-bods and 04 GTO's..

Thanks all. Found an engine/transmission/wiring harness/ecm out of 2002 camaro today with 1400 miles on the unit. I should be pretty much squared away. Going to install in my 51 ford street rod.
Everyone get ready for some questions. :-)
