Default Intake and programmer Qs

I got a couple of questions maybe yall can put my mind at ease a little bit. First off I would like to get a programmer for my '02 SS, But i want one i can continue to update as mod money comes in. I was thinkin either the Diablo sport or the SCT, I also need one that will increase line pressure in the tranny as it wont up shift at WOT, I assume thats the problem. I am also wondering about what CAI would be better, Im between the K&N Kit and the SLP Kit. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

well for programmers, others might same the same but dyno tune for the money is the best but i know u want someting u can keep adding onto, i had a hypertech programmer on my 2000 silverado, it added maybe 10-15hp if that BUT what i loved about it was the transmission control ablity, i could change when it shifted, so as u wanted u could get it to shift wot np even when spinning probably, u can change rev limiter, change rear end ratio if u have ot adjust speedo, it was nice and i was happy with it, most bang for ur buck though will probably be a dyno tune once u get a majority of ur parts are, im planing on sometime after jan if i dont have close to enough for head/cam : \ i have nothing currently programmer wise one my ws6

Get tuned by a professional unless you really know what you're doing. Even if you do, a professional can probably squeeze more horses out of your car than you could. As for CAIs, pretty useless in my opinion. Ram air is the way to go if you can make it happen. You car already gets air from inside the engine bay, just like a CAI set up. Ram Air is forcing in air directly from outside your car which is as cold as its gonna get.

I'm not good with computers at all so tuning myself is pretty much out... What is a HP tuner? I know a few guys who know tuners but I'm not in a position to spend that kind of money more than once or twice. I realize the flash programmers aren't the best but its all I need for now. My buddy had pretty good luck with his SCT because he could get it updated as he changed parts and there was a noticeable difference, granted that was a Dakota R/T... Not the most efficient car. I kinda figured the cold air wouldn't help because it got a stock ram air setup just thought i would ask... What about the SLP box and lid. Those do any good?

Yes, the SLP lid is a good upgrade and you can find them running around used on the Parts Classified for about 60-70 bucks. I'm a Trans Am owner so someone with a Camaro could tell you more about the beneficial air intake mods for your car.

Like was said, a dyno tune is the best way to go. HP Tuners is a full tuning program, and unless your really comfortable, and knowledgable, i wouldnt go that route.

One other thing about dyno tunes, is if you find a good tuner, and go to them repeatedly, you dont pay the full amount each time. For example, my tuner charges 500 for the first tune, then hourly after that. so any updates, depending on how big would only cost about 125 if its done under an hour.

Goin with A Sct for now. Ill tune it once its got enough parts in it to be worth my while, the line pressure in the tranny is my only concern right now. Thanks for the info everybody, I really do appreciate it
