Default false knock.. ET and mph lower

can race style pacesetter headers cause a performance loss on a 2000 z28 that use to have egr stuff

i went to the track and the best trap speed i could get out of the car was 106mph

before headers it was doing 108 without a problem

there is no SES light.. but its obviously not as strong as before

1. i think it could be the y-pipe rattling banging
2. old fuel filter maybe? 50k miles on the car bought it used

the K-member is shaved so that it doesn't rub there.

any other ideas.. its driving me nuts that i've spent all this $ and the car is slower.

Your running rich as hell? Have you autotap'd it or put it on a wideband? My headers smack but do not cause false knock retard. You need to find out how your running. Who tuned it for the cam?

My Y-pipe bang's pretty bad at times and i haven't had a problem. First night out at the track i was trapping consistant 111's, which was up from 108-109's. Is your banging horribly bad??? (my k-member is grinded down also, so only the y-pipe is banging anything)

the pacesetter headers sit up so close to the floor board its kind of a consistent rattle.. not sure of a solution for that

many solutions, all require work. YOU MUST notch the k-member and i guess can torch ORY to make it hang lower.

And yes it will set off the KR. I efilive'd it, then i took my handy dandy crowbar (used for intellectual meeting of minds), and rapped the header for shiz n giggles.

sure enough logged a 1 degree KR from a rap that might give you a lump on your head but not do any real damage

I don't know if the fuel filter would cause that much drop in power, but you might as well change it, its not that hard and its cheap!!

But what other thing could cause his car to trap lower, I know Insomnaik and he had his car tuned by MTI, he threw a SES light before he had the 2nd tune done for the header install cause he had to replace one of the front 02 sensor, then they tuned it, so he shouldnt be running rich? what else could be causing this loss of HP and not throw a SES light? I have been trying to figure this out with him and I am at a loss.

auto tap it for sure .. it sounds like a tuning prob..
not saying mti dont know thier stuff cause they do but i have had mine dump a tune b4 ....
retune it and try again..
if it still is a prob send check otherthings (fuel spark ect ect ect)
autotap should give you the prob though
