Default Which engine?

What engine do you guys think is better? LS1 or LT1? I'm planning on dropping one is my v6 but not 100 % sure which one i want to work on. Reasons for your choice are good too.

LS1 is lighter, more expensive, 5.7 liters, more horsepower (stock), aluminum

LT1 is heavier, less expensive, 5.7 liters, less horsepower (stock), iron

LQ4/LQ9 is heavier, less expensive, 6 liters, iron block, slap on LS6 intake and tap new hole for alternator, LQ9 has higher compression (better horsepower than the other two above), LQ4 has lower compression (not sure if it makes the same power as an LS1 when you put on the LS6 intake, but damn close).

LS1

I've owned both. Both good engines, but if you plan on modding, you'll get farther with the LS1 with mod for mod. Besides, messing with the Optispark is not really fun, even though I only did that once on my car. You remove too much just to get to the component.

The last thing we need is another LS1 vs LT1 flame war thread.

Research both, then decide which is best for your needs. And remember that opinions will always be biased when you ask this question on a site that is primarily dominated by one of the two engines.
