Default new to LS1 oil change

i'm new to the 4th gen, but had the 2nd and 3rd gens' for a long time. i want to change my own oil and filter,,i can't seem to find a decent pic or diagram of the underside of my TA so i can see exactly where the drain plug and filter is. on my old 3rd gen, i could do the oil and filter without jacking/lifting the car at all, i could squeeze my arm/shoulder underneath just enough to get it done. does anyone know if i can i do the oil change on the LS1 w/o lifting the car? and/or can you help me with a decent pic/diagram? thx.

Don't have a pic or diagram but you will HAVE to lift the car to be able to get to the drain plug and filter.

if you look under the front of your car you should be able to see your oil pan, plug and filter.

I dunno how big of a person you are, but I absolutely cannot do this without raising the front of the car, but I'm pretty broad in the chest (manboobs and all). No diagrams in my arsenal for you though, sorry. The filter is pretty easy to get to once the car is in the air a bit, as is the drain plug actually.

Put it up on some rhino ramps and shimmy under it. The filter and oil drain plug are right near one another - can't miss 'em.

Such a bitch without ramps. Oh and when you put the plug back in use a little rvt silicone around the bolt it will keep a seal, if i dont do that it tends to leak a little and get messy

Im 6'5" and a big guy, last time I did my oil change on my car I timed myself. 11 minutes including jacking up/letting down the car. Not hard or time consuming at all.

Same here. I am 5' 10" and weigh 126 pounds and have to lift the car. I usually take my time and the let oil drip out for awhile. I sometimes stay under the car looking around to look for any potential problems. Of course, I use a floor jack and two jack stands since I am paranoid.

pick up a cheap *** jack (or harbor freight discounts their nice slim aluminum racing jacks down to $60 often) and some $15-20 jackstands and your life will be easier

**** scissor jacks! Whoever invented that **** should be drug out into the moonlight and beaten with hammers IMO.

I'm in college too, but I live off campus now. Even when I did live on campus I kept a floor jack in my room to use when I had to do oil changes ect. Makes life a lot easier
